The product manager of Gazoo Racing (the guy who held the presentation) said they don't have exact prices now but we can expect that the car wont be priced higher than the previous one.

Also the car will only be produced for 2 years for the European market, which is ruff...
This might be one of the last chances to get a real drivers car new before they ban new ICE cars entirely...
Sorry just saw your comment. Yes I'd suggest with all of the delays you will want to make an order sooner rather than later. They will have a production number that they can deliver in those two years and once it goes past that it will stop. So I dont think you will have the full two years.

I updated the other thread for some informations for my EU mates:
Hope it helps you.

OT: @Gillormon, I believe me and you are the only 2 from Italy in this forum, I recently moved to Bergamo area and have no idea which dealership I should resort to... if you know something about Northern Italy Toyota dealerships please share with me :D
I'm from Bergamo too!!! Maybe I see your post on IG so I try to contact in pvt 😉 and we can go to pre-order together you and me 😊

I hope that the price will be under 40k because over 40k will be too too much... But we will see

Hi all, I have been following this forum for quite some months now and I finally decided to join the discussion as well!

Really went crazy for this car since the presentation and today I have been following the Instagram live stream on Lackas account (the German dealership which organized the presentation).

After that, some Instagram accounts started posting pics and data and I found an account saying that price of the car is going to be 320.000 kn, which means about 42K€... Quite higher than what I was expecting... what do you think?

Welcome to the forum. What do you drive currently? Which 86/BRZ spec are you likely to get?

Hello! Thanks for welcoming me! I currently drive a Toyota Yaris Hybrid (2021 model). Never had sporty cars so far, I've always been more a motorcycle guy, I have a couple of Ducatis...

I got this car on July because I needed a car quickly and my old dealership told me that when GR86 would arrive I could pay a small fee and give them my Yaris back and get the 86... Hope that was true, I got it with "Pay Per Drive" financial service, not sure if that's an Italy-only option or is available in other European countries.

For the spec of the 86, I was thinking the option with the manual, 18" and those amazing seats, but I still need to understand which options will arrive in Europe.

I'm from Bergamo too!!! Maybe I see your post on IG so I try to contact in pvt 😉 and we can go to pre-order together you and me 😊
I found you on IG, will write you in the next few days, I also found a reliable dealership but it's 3 hours from Bergamo

Do you know if the dealership is accepting reservations/pre-orders for the GR86?

They are not answering my e-mails, so not sure yet... However I have the personal contact of the guy in Toyota dealership who sold me my Yaris on July, so I will try to contact him mid-January, hopefully he can tell me something useful especially considering reservations, but despite being a quite big Toyota dealership in Southern Italy I am not sure they will sell GR cars...

I received info from local dealer (in PL), that prices will be anounced mid december and the process of collecting orders will start after new year. Expected delivery time 6-7 months
I called my local dealer in Poland and, unfortunately, they said that December is unrealistic and that pricing will be revealed in the first half of 2022 – but they have no idea when exactly. They also mentioned that Toyota Poland will have a shared demo car that will travel from dealer to dealer and stay at each showroom for a couple of days. All of the above, as well as collecting orders, will be 'sometime in the first half of 2022'. 🤬
Honestly, I have a feeling that the GR86 is going to be priced above the Yaris GR in Poland. We have really high excise duty rates for cars with displacement over 2000cc, our inflation is getting out of hand, so I doubt they will keep the price anywhere near the GT86. Personally, I'm growing a bit tired and I'm starting to look at used M2's

Hey, quick update from the dealership I am in contact with: they have no official information regarding the pre-ordering or the month the 86 is going to be in the dealership to be seen, but they already have a waiting list. Of course I am now in the waiting list so I will keep you posted on this!

I just received some fresh information from 2 dealers in Czech Republic (I bombarded about 5 of them :D ) regarding the GR86 availability:
  • the price of the GR86 will be situated slightly below the GR Yaris (about 33k € for the base trim incl. 21% Czech VAT)
  • orders will start the moment the configuration & pricing will be on dealers' websites, it should open in late February / March 2022
  • manufacture of European cars will start 04/2022 with first deliveries summer 2022
  • 2 trims available: base & premium, no extra packets or performance parts available
  • it will be possible to order exact trim + transmission + color
The dealer also told me, there is a huge demand for the car and that they already had tens of inquiries about it, and the allocation slot for Czech Republic for year 2022 is not that big, so we should place our orders as soon as possible :)

The car manufacture for Europe will cease unfortunately in 05/2024, the problem is actually not emissions, but some GSR (Global Safety Regulation) that the car won't fulfill in that year. :cautious: I searched what these GSR rules are and came with this information, several systems with questionable benefits and some borderline annoyances:

I fully understand that these systems don't have a place in a purist sports car, and the high cost of implementing them. So the decision of Toyota is probably sound, no matter how painful it is to hear and accept. So hurry up car enthusiasts!

I got the same answer about the configuration page some time ago, that dealerships cannot do anything until they see it in their systems.

I'm not sure if we should really worry about demand, a lot of people may ask about the car but obviously not everyone asking is ready to buy it as soon as it releases (like most of us are). So as long as we preorder it when it is available we all should be driving our toyotas next summer :)

So,does this information mean that 2 years of production starts from April 2022?That is good news,we will actually lose only some months since everybody knew GR86 wouldn't have a chance by 2025 with Euro7 regualations! The real question now is when will be the last orders taken?End of 2023 for deliveries until 05/2024 or April 2024 with deliveries until 07/2024?July 2024 i think is the official month for new safety regulations!

Do you Pay higher tax for higher engine displacement?

FDo we know exactly when the new laws come into place? It might well be around the financial new year in june/july, potentially the end of the year?

Now I'm not fully familiar with EU laws so take this with a grain of salt, but usually its taken from the compliance date of the car, which is after import. So only those who have already arrived befor cut-off. The actual date that the new law comes into effect is the date all of the cars needed to comply. Potentially there could be stock still sitting on the floor that can still be sold after the rules came in, because just like the other cars on the road, this car was compliant before the new law came in. In this senario Toyota would get as many into the country as possible before cutoff.

Now if EU has the rule based around initial registration, that might change how many orders they supply at the end because Toyota would not be able to properly estimate with precision how many they can get through before the date, I could see dealers buying the cars and selling them second hand perhaps, but either way I'd suggest this would mean toyota would need to really back off the number imported as it closes in on the date, because if they don't get sold and registered they are 'dead' cars.

Honestly, all of these news are kinda depressing. Until now I had been too young to afford a car like this, and even now I'm not really ready to buy. I'd need probably 4 more years to buy and not overextend my means. But instead of looking forward to my dream car, it feels like chasing a collectible in a race against time, and the pressure to buy one just out of FOMO really annoys me. Former times really were simpler...

Why is the Toyota GR86 only on sale for two years? - Toyota UK Magazine

Note the 2nd paragraph "In 2024, new European safety protocols will come into force, and vehicles that do not comply with these General Safety Regulation 2 standards will not be allowed to be sold. This will even apply to existing, un-registered stock held centrally by vehicle manufacturers."

Unfortunately that is exactly what is happening. There will be many potential customers who will miss out owning one from new.

For those in the UK the allocation for 2022 is 400 cars apparently. Order books not open yet.

Long time lurker from the UK. Been eagerly awaiting news of the GR86 for some time now and to be honest it's been disappointing and somewhat off putting.

Contacted Toyota UK and dealers only to be told they know nothing and to sign up for the news updates/keep me informed mailing list. Of course that has remained silent since Goodwood back in August - not even a "hey, the wait is almost over - stay tuned".

Given the above, its almost like Toyota are not overly keen to support this product in Europe and have even less interest in those who are eager to know when they can reserve a car. I say this as the new Aygo was announced in October and can now be reserved and has more information on it than the GR86 has had in the last 7 months.

Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come (last time something like this happened and it was Honda UK and the new NSX and we all know how that went. No support, no interest, only 2 dealers could service the car in the UK etc).
