my Fujitsubo AR catback arrived a few days ago and i finally got a chance to throw it on.

first off: packaging and quality is AMAZING. If youre familiar with Fujitsubo exhaust systems, this is no surprise.

the system itself is slightly different than the Authorize R they offered for the 1st gen twins. It has an added resonator in the back.

Fitment was spot on. attach everything all loose. make sure the exhaust tips are centered, and tightened from front to back.

my ONLY gripe was the slip fit joint in the middle. im not a fan of slip fit exhaust joints, as they tend to often leak and if poorly designed, can bind up and make it a nightmare to adjust. They do offer a great benefit, if used in a strategic spot. It allows the used to fine tune fitment of the exhaust. Since this platform is nothing high end, things will be slightly different from car to car. The slip joint is there for this purpose.

That being said, this joint gave me ZERO issues. i was genuinely surprised. Fujitsubo put it in a very good spot and even includes a little piece of aluminum tape to cover the split area on the exhaust pipe, just to give that extra level of comfort that there wont be any leaks.

I'll try to get a driving video as soon as my left foot heals enough to drive manual again.

For now.. ill let the pictures and a cold start video do justice

-2/26 update

i went out with a buddy to record some footage. my DSLR decided it doesnt wanna record audio for some reason. I have to figure that out and try again, but here's some iphone footage for yall.

I dig it. Great choice. Should sound really nice without much rasp from that big helmholtz resonator.
I feel it has a good amount of rasp like this. not too much, not too little.

Now please do som drive-by recordings.
I will as soon as i can drive the car!

admittedly, i completely forgot to remove the red sticker from the exhaust, so i have to get back under the car and pull it off haha

The fit and finish looks amazing.
Thanks! It definitely is.

Very nice! Where did you get it from?
Ordered from Fujitsubo directly, since my local dealer couldnt get me an ETA.
Although, your local Fujitsubo/Cusco dealer can order it for you.

Looks and sounds good! I also cannot unsee the mud flaps on the mk6 (lol) - def not getting the joke. :D
Thanks!
Those mudflaps have been there since Miley Cyrus had the whole twerking fiasco haha. They're long overdue for a change/removal

Thanks for posting this. This is one of the exhausts I'm considering. As others have requested, where did you buy from?
You local Fujitsubo or Cusco dealer can order, but i ordered it from Fujitsubo directly as soon as it was available

Like sasquatchola, I also have a base Mk6 hatch (5spd MT); not nearly as fast as an R or GTI, but no more maintenance heavy than your typical Subaru in my experience, probably less in some ways.
It’ll likely be far less maintenance than any Subaru. I’ve literally done nothing but oil changes every 10k for 90k miles. Changed plugs and coils every 40k as recommended by the manual. I am overdue for a coolant flush though.. All the issues I’ve had with my golf were cause I had Modified it lol

the 2.5 is one hell of a motor and can take a beating. My only complaint is the garbage mpg in the city.

Well, not to hijack this thread with our VW insanity, but yeah, they seem to be very low maintenance. 138k on mine, basically just oil changes, changed the plugs twice, air filter a few times, still on original coils should probably just change them, though they've given no trouble so far. Yes, agree, the 2.5 is a very underrated motor, very unique too.

I'm struggling deciding if I should sell my Golf or my Honda Element as one of them will go toward GR86 down payment. The Element is nowhere near as fun to drive, but the utility is outstanding.

Anyways, back to the Fujitsubo, sorry for the distraction!
