Anybody know if there are any companies making new catted UEL headers? I don't want to put older gen headers because I've heard there are no hp gains.
Are you using an 02 extender? I plan on installing my catted JDL UEL Header sometime this month. Seeing if I should order one in advance to avoid CELIt is a gen 2 header. Only difference is the position of the overpipe flange. It was spot on. No CEL after 200 miles so far. No secondary cat, just the ho flow one in the header
No I am not. Installed the sensors directly in the bungs and have never got a CEL. I have about 1500 miles on the header. Are you using an 02 extender? I plan on installing my catted JDL UEL Header sometime this month. Seeing if I should order one in advance to avoid CEL
Nice! Thats great news, thank you.No I am not. Installed the sensors directly in the bungs and have never got a CEL. I have about 1500 miles on the header.
I have found in my usage the grimmspeed gaskets if you can find them are the only ones that will hold up if you're running a header, everything else is garbage. They arent cheap omg the last set was over $30 but changing manifold gaskets every 3 months is no fun and thats exactly what i was doing on 'spendy'...the added maintenance that goes with a header installation is something most folks don't think about before they do it. Just saying thats one more consideration in your overall upgrade plan or perhaps it should be.I used the supplied gasket for the overpipe connection. Its a very thick soft alloy gasket that seems like it will hold up well. On the heads I used grimm speed gaskets. No leaks.
Thats good to know. I have had my header installed for about 5 months and 5k miles and all is good. No leaks anywhere. After install I drove it for about a week going through multiple heat cycles and about 300 miles. Then I went back in and snugged everything back up.I have found in my usage the grimmspeed gaskets if you can find them are the only ones that will hold up if you're running a header, everything else is garbage. My header experience on subaru engines is limited to ej22 and ej25 engines and so my experience there may not apply to these newer designs but subaru doesn't reinvent the wheel everytime there is a revision so I'm guessing that things haven't changed much with exhaust port and flange design.Thats good to know. I was wondering if you had you car on the track this year and if so , what was your oil temps running at mine was up at 115 CNo I am not. Installed the sensors directly in the bungs and have never got a CEL. I have about 1500 miles on the header.
I actually had my 1 and only track day with the car 2 weeks ago. I had a membership at autobahn for the last several years. I decided not to renew this year as work\family\home\life just doesnt allow me to get out there enough to justify the cost. Everything that matters is still stock on my car. Tires, brakes, fluid, suspension etc. So although I did drive it hard, it was maybe 7\10 and on the brakes way early. We had a few freakishly warm days pop up and I wasnt really prepared but went anyways. I was chasing a BMW 335i for the whole 20 minutes each session except for the last session, where the other driver with the 335 I , had me start off .. Then 335 I , could not lose me but, I did not have enough power to over take , but dam what a blast !I actually had my 1 and only track day with the car 2 weeks ago. I was just watching the OEM oil temp gauge which on the BRZ does not give an exact number, but looked to peak right around 240f which is pretty spot on with your 115c.
I do plan on getting my tune soon plus pads and fluid then I hope to bring it to Road America this summer.
I'd love to join you at RA...but it's 1500 miles away!!I actually had my 1 and only track day with the car 2 weeks ago. I had a membership at autobahn for the last several years.
