Catted UEL headers

I'd assume with different internals and significant flow increases over gen 1 the old headers won't do much.

I could be surprised, however I doubt it.
Personally I'm waiting for verified results. Probably uel for the noise and mid range over top end.

Considering that decatted stock headers on Gen 1 performed pretty much comparably to aftermarket catless headers, I would expect similar results in Gen 2. It’s never been about the header design, it’s always been about removing the cats or replacing them with higher flowing cats.
I remember there being a bit more from a few designs however that could be how they represented it.

Nice find..!! I missed that. Now you see why so many people choose the catless version. It costs double for the catted version. Part of me really wants to pull the trigger and pick one up, butI think I will wait for tuning to be available and see some results. The gen 2 manifold is actually really good. That TQ dip will be easily fixed with tuning alone.
I know it's 22 but $1500 for a manifold seems a bit much....

Anything relatively cheap and desirable has this problem...hence mustangs and Nissan altimas. Wrx sunroof is a vape vent, and so on.
It's simply a reflection of the culture. If I ever won a million or so I'd definitely buy a 90s civic and build it properly just to prove that it's possible to make one reasonably fast, reliable and clean. They're always trashed.

One one hand I hate the way Harleys sound, and they are designed just for the sound.

On the other hand I've always thought 95% of 4 cylinder cars sound bad and that the uel boxer setup sounded better.
Subaru does it for packaging reasons so it's better than ruining the engine internals for sound. But buying the worse option for sound also hurts my brain.

There was very little overall difference in total hp/total tq between the decatted stock header and quality catless UEL and EL headers on the 1stGen. There was a small difference in how/where the hp/tq was delivered. In other words, unless you care about squeezing every last hp/tq out of it as possible, go with the sound you like better when tuning solutions come along.

Heck, if you want to save money, decat your stock header and sell the cats for scrap.
This is not what I remember.

Sounds like a blast.

Haven't don't the track yet, End of June scheduled.

Doing pulls for my tuner I hit 229F which is the highest I've seen. Headers I think added some as they are much closer to the pan, and that type of pull seems to be more load than getting to speed running out the gears normally. I've done a few mtn runs (shorter than some) and I was a good 10F lower at the end.
