my Fujitsubo AR catback arrived a few days ago and i finally got a chance to throw it on.

first off: packaging and quality is AMAZING. If youre familiar with Fujitsubo exhaust systems, this is no surprise.

the system itself is slightly different than the Authorize R they offered for the 1st gen twins. It has an added resonator in the back.

Fitment was spot on. attach everything all loose. make sure the exhaust tips are centered, and tightened from front to back.

my ONLY gripe was the slip fit joint in the middle. im not a fan of slip fit exhaust joints, as they tend to often leak and if poorly designed, can bind up and make it a nightmare to adjust. They do offer a great benefit, if used in a strategic spot. It allows the used to fine tune fitment of the exhaust. Since this platform is nothing high end, things will be slightly different from car to car. The slip joint is there for this purpose.

That being said, this joint gave me ZERO issues. i was genuinely surprised. Fujitsubo put it in a very good spot and even includes a little piece of aluminum tape to cover the split area on the exhaust pipe, just to give that extra level of comfort that there wont be any leaks.

I'll try to get a driving video as soon as my left foot heals enough to drive manual again.

For now.. ill let the pictures and a cold start video do justice

-2/26 update

i went out with a buddy to record some footage. my DSLR decided it doesnt wanna record audio for some reason. I have to figure that out and try again, but here's some iphone footage for yall.

Thanks! It definitely is.

Very nice! Where did you get it from?
Ordered from Fujitsubo directly, since my local dealer couldnt get me an ETA.
Although, your local Fujitsubo/Cusco dealer can order it for you.

Looks and sounds good! I also cannot unsee the mud flaps on the mk6 (lol) - def not getting the joke. :D
Thanks!
Those mudflaps have been there since Miley Cyrus had the whole twerking fiasco haha. They're long overdue for a change/removal

Thanks for posting this. This is one of the exhausts I'm considering. As others have requested, where did you buy from?
You local Fujitsubo or Cusco dealer can order, but i ordered it from Fujitsubo directly as soon as it was available

Sounds really good, Sasquatchola. Have you taken it out on the freeway yet, any noticeable drone?

I appreciate the input on the Element vs. Golf. Honestly, the practicality is the only thing holding me back from choosing Golf over Element. But anyways, we better let that conversation die, or Dean may never wake up. Oh, shit, I see he just posted, must've come back to life. No need to reply, Sasquatch, other than my question above about drone...

the exhaust note virtually disappears with the windows up when going 65-80mph with little to no throttle input.

it drones a little with city driving, but i feel it's impossible to get some volume without having drone somewhere. it's more so on deceleration. it hasnt bothered me at all and i held a conversation in the car with my buddy while driving around town for most of the day today. never once did i feel i had to raise my voice.

i should also mentioned im running kartboy hangers that are urethane vs the oem rubber. im sure that transfers a bit of resonance through the chassis

From my experience with my ND2 Miata and FRS I always ran into drone at low RPMs ~3000-3500 rpm. Does any of that "city driving drone" intrude into highway driving at 3000-3500 rpm?

I get annoyed with any drone so I was hoping this hemholtz chamber would reduce the drone completely.

this exhaust is virtually drone free like most fujitsubo exhausts. everyone's ears and ear drums are different and everyone is sensitive to different sounds and frequencies. there's some people who think the invidia n1 is drone free... i personally feel they should get their hearing checked when they say that. LOL

How well it works for DD use is kinda a subjective thing. There’s a bit of drone especially off throttle just below 3k that I don’t love. I can tolerate it, but with track season coming to a close I’ll probably either build a silencer or try swapping to something quieter for DD duty over the winter. I did do a bit of sound deadening in the trunk quite a while ago when I first installed the catless headers because initially the drone with the HKS exhaust was pretty bad. That did cut down that a little bit, but I still ended up swapping catbacks.
