So, I have interesting news: in mid may I ordered, here in Italy, a Base, manual, GR86...
After a week the status on the website was updated from "processing" to "delivery" (or whatever, you get the idea), and last week the car actually arrived at the dealer (looks like it had already been shipped in early April)... BUT my dealer informed me that they received a recall from Toyota and, although they already have the car, they can't sell it until the problem (which apparently has something to do with the brake actuator) is fixed...
Anyone else knows anything about this? I checked on the website of Toyota Italy, and there is no recall associated to my VIN, plus I can't find any other info about this on the internet, so I'm a little confused...
I am in a similar situation (ordered in Italy arrived in Trieste 3 weeks ago), I'll call the dealer on Monday to ask if mine has the same issue. I was told that I just need to wait for the import papers to go through.

I also saw that Oliviero a dealer in Vicenza had an unveiling of the car yesterday.

I have decided to backout of my contract and will go with another car as there is just too many issues with the delivery and I don't want to wait who knows how long. Want to ask you guys from the Nordics or other areas where the car isn't available if you'd like to take over my contract (Czech Republic). It is for the standard manual, pavement gray and the dealer price is 35K EUR. It was supposed to be delivered in June, but looks like early next year now...
I just signed the purchase order in France lol. What car are you looking for? As I feel like the GR86 doesn't have a direct competitor.

Hi guys,

Bought my GR86 6 weeks ago, it was a demo model, brand new, never use. I can't take possession of it now because of a recall by Toyota Europe. My dealership told me about a default in a security function in a GR86 somewhere in Europe and Toyota doesn't want to take any risk until they now what happened.
Did you have any more informations ?

By the way the 86 production for the European market should start on february 2023 at the Gunma factory, with first delivery on april/may 2023.

According to my dealer it looks like the issue is about the brake actuator (he also said that it was a minor issue, but Toyota being very thorough they're stopping all the sales nonetheless)... I've been trying to get more details but, so far, neither the dealers seem to have the full picture, and looks like they're waiting updates from Toyota as well...

Everyone receives different info as usual. I don't get why demo models are available already, when every dealer says customer cars get priority. I really don't understand why I bothered placing my order so soon if this apparently was a faster method.

What do you mean they start in February? Some of us will receive their car earlier I'm sure.

Apologies for my bitterness by the way. After waiting 3 years for the new 86 to come out, 3 months after ordering as soon as it was possible, getting conflicting info on the forum weekly and no info at all from Toyota I think I should stop trying to make sense out of it and take some distance from this topic...

I would like that very much, color is fine too.
I've got an offer from swiss toyota but as thats outside EU the importing costs to Finland are going to be biblical. Could I persuade you to PM me your dealer contact?
Edit: well now I'm so hyped I PM'd you already

Hi Swiftshot,

My 86 is at Toyota Cars Avenue in Nivelles. You go there and my car is in the middle of the showroom. Contact me in DM if you want more info.

Hi Wpr,

I only tell what my dealer told me. He's the first to tell me that he have barely zero information from Toyota Europe. I don't know where he take his information about the production starting on feb'23.
About the demo model, I just get a lot of chance as I was the first ti be very interested on the GR86 at my dealership, and he told me that he's gonna receive a demo model in may to "launch the sales". The director of the dealer groups was ok to sell me the GR86 so i bought it. As we know there is 3 demo 86 in Belgium, one is already registrate, the second one is mine, already at the dealer but toyota europe say stop to the registration so I have to wait.

Btw he told me to expect a first feedback on mi-July about the recall.

Guys I feel you and I'm disappointed as well but it seems to me that this is the last true analog naturally aspirated car which you can buy brand new. I already sold my car (yeah bit premature) but just recalibrate for 2023 delivery and wait it out :) Looks like this will be quite rare car across Europe.

well, consumers dictate the market. I am sure if there was demand, more similar cars would be offered on the European market.

One reason for such popularity of the AE86 in Japan in the 80s was that people believed that it was one of the last RWD cars... which is kinda absurd if you think of it now

I am sure the demand would be higher if people could actually afford such car. With all those riduculous taxes in EU market and EV favoring I would say it is goverments that dictate the market, not consumers.
