I'm afraid for the rims with all the changes. I'm not sure it's good also for the tires.

It's certainly more expensive to get 2 complete kits but I prefer this option. The question is do I use my stock 18" rims in summer or in winter.
You are asking a totally personal question to be honest. So you definitely want another set of rims it seems. Then the question is do you want 18s again or 17s?, then will you spend a lot or a little on the rims? etc. etc. So many variables in such a simple question ;)

I'm not completely closed to keeping just one set of rims :p Is all this dismantling and reassembly safe for rims and tires?

If I'm picking up a new kit, I'd like to see pictures. It's not easy to make a choice on a configurator. What we often see are very wide rims like Volk Racing on lowered cars.

If you have someone you trust with the fitting that's a good start. I'm sure swapping back and forth does increase the wear and tear somewhat. However, In my opinion I'll have changed the tires by the time they are 3 or 4 years old maximum so I'm not worried.

I'm totally with you on the difficulty choosing a new set. Everything looks good in a 9 inch + width but I don't want to go that wide.

Which rims did you choose ?
5x100 Autec Wizard 17x7,5 ET 38 wrapped in Blizzak LM-005 XL's in 215/45R17 91V
There's a couple of pictures of them on the instagram link below.

This is how fitment compares to stock: 10mm more to the outside, which actually is a quite noticeable visual improvement already. Another 10mm would be perfect.

By the way, if you opt for new summer wheels, please consider JapanRacing SL01, I'd LOVE to see those under a GR86 :D (in any color)
I'll probably buy JR-6 Gold, not sure though, will look first a bit more around if there aren't any other 5 spoke wheels that I'll like more.

I've got already many spokes to clean with the OZ Superturismo GT and white rims are also done for me... xD

To get an idea of how stretch a 8" rim on 215 tires :

Personally, I don't like. It's too stretched for me. So it will be 7,5" on 215 or 8-8,5" on 235. It seems that 235/35/18 is under tolerance.
Reply to myself 😁

There is no tire (only 1 at 400 EUR ...) in 235/35/18 😅 And with 225/40/18, I need lowering. What a stupid stock tire dimension 😩

Because I find that the space between the tire and the body is already limit with stock wheels. With 225, it's still higher 😕 The diameter of the wheel is higher and I don't like the 4x4 style.
Total diameter is 8,3mm more for 225/40 over 215/40, I would be very surprised if that would make a difference. Have you seen a topic that claims it wouldn't fit?

Does anyone have the problem, that the car changes from km/h to miles/h during driving?
Just in case your dealer has not provided any further help so far. Since the problem happend to me quite often lately, I got in touch with my dealer this morning and they got a swift response from Toyota about that problem. They are aware of this and currently work on a fix. The problem seems to be a loose contact of the instrument cluster. They already worked on cars with the same problem and a current workaround is a cable tie that helped to get rid of this problem.
I have an appointment for Monday where we will also try that on my car. Since this isn't an official solution yet, it may require further action, but if this fixes the problem in the meantime, I'm happy with it for now ;)

that would be quite interesting to know what exactly causes this. Some guys in CZ/SK already got totaled second gen cars from US and do not know how to switch from MPH to KMH lol
