The license thing is a bit lame and just added expense. It should be included in the cost of the hardware. Realistically what can you do with the hardware without a license? My thought is that it is used to prevent people from using 1 device to tune multiple cars. The American tuning devices I have used (SCT, Diablo, Bully) all go about this differently and in a better way IMO. The device extracts the stock tune and "marries" itself to that vehicle. At that point the device cannot be used on any other vehicle until the stock file is returned to the original vehicle. They do give you the option to then buy additional licenses to tune multiple vehicles, but the 1st one is on the house since you paid for the device. It would be great if more tuning options existed, but it is what it is.

Show me some flex fuel and take my money.
I just sent my GR 86 to be tuned on 93-95 pump gas with ECU Teck software , I am just hoping for a 20 whp gain LOL

...and the results are...
I should have my car back from the Tuner, with in the 3 weeks of December 22 I guess, as I have to work with weather conditions as well. I ordered headers and down pipe, then tuned, I am hoping for another 15 to 25 whp with this car tune, after the new Headers and down pipe put on, given it a bit of weight reduction lol I will give some feedback when get the Gr86 back :)

Update,Well I had my AT Premium GR 86 at the Tuner ,and he used my car so he could get used to the new Ecutech platform on this car. The car now I believe he said is running from 198 whp to 210 whp and now no top end limiter ,then he will finish tuning when the new parts come in approximately (6 -8 weeks),we decided now to go with JDL catted headers ceramic coated ultra quite with resonator . Once the manifold is dropped they will remove the oil pan and clean the oil pick up put from the silicone gasket if there is any !! Then retune : That’s all for now for a update Merry Christmas 🎅 everyone!

So EcuTek sells at minimum two items for you to personally reflash your vehicle with the Delicious Stage 1 tune.

First you need thier hardware. Programming Kit or BlueTooth EcuConnect.
Second you need a license, like Microsoft, that goes on the ECU. This allows any evutek tuner to program it.
How much more whp and torque would be possible with a stage 2 tune with Header s and HF cat with cat back exhaust on say a 93 to 94 octane from the stage 1 tune ???

I am hoping that the torque increases, at least after the headers and HF cat are installed and tune tweaked:)
By looking and seeing the gains made from being tuned ,with just a cat back exhaust and HF air filter with charcoal delete from other video s , now makes me think that all the money I spent to get the EL headers and high flow cat ,may not gain me more than a couple whp and, perhaps a bit more torque and ,some weight savings ! Oh well , what I get in the end is what I get on 94 to 95 octane as the gas here in Kelowna is terrible 😞 so that being said, I will still give the results on here after the car is finished in a few days , and I will use octane boosters to make sure I have a solid 94 , Vancouver apparently has Shell 93 which from what I have been told seems to be very reliable!

What are you looking at? Its always difficult to compare dyno's from different people and I wouldn't assume what headers will give you just by looking at cat backs and tunes.
I seen Kevin Vo s car ,that was tuned with only a cat back exhaust then re tuned after they installed headers and only gained 2 whp more and 11 lb-ft of torque, not much when you consider the the price for JDL EL catted headers and a re tune , yikes 😬!!

If you can avoid it, I wouldn't buy last gen headers just while we start to collect new data on newly designed headers for the 2.4L.

Yes they fit the bolt placement, but as is a different volume of exhaust gass per cycle and with larger exhaust ports on the FA24, its not optimising the exhaust flow.

Nothing is fully confirmed and backed up by tons of results yet but there looks to be a lot of performance left on the table with older headers and the new engine. By no means is this a definitive comparison, and feel free to take it with a grain of salt, but look at the following where they compare a newly design header against stock and an old 2L header that was tuned for E85 on the same test car. (tuning and dynos done by PVS - a legit tuner that owns the car)

Thank you so much for the information 👍

I will have to get my tuner , to tune out oxygen sensor s as my car is now throwing an engine code , I and the one mechanic plugged into port and found out that it was coming from oxygen sensors from the high cat, lol and he reset the sensor and after a little down shifting it returned, so next week I will get the tuner to tune it out but other than that , it runs well !’

That may or may not be a feature anymore. The government have been hunting down tuning companies that allow the O2 sensor to be deactivated. Cobb which is owned by the same company as Ecutek no longer allows it, along with other "non compliant" emissions features. The simple solution is to add an O2 spacer and leave the tuning alone. The cost is a couple dollars and cannot be detected through OBDII like doing it through the ECU.
I assume your header is catless and the hi flow cat you mention is in the front pipe....?
Yes that is what i got ! Thanks for the information, I will try that then :)

I honestly think we are very lucky that we can still tune at all with ecutek. I've booked mine in btw, my tuner came back to me as soon as the racerom beta arrived. He is booked out into March tho, so my booking is not for some time yet.
I had the chance today to give my Gr86 a little run with the new tune , most definitely smoother and quicker for this 6 speed automatic tranny , it feels much stronger on the accelerator for sure , and of course it started to snow again ,but before that happened I got to play a bit with it , sounds nice when it shifts . I will need to get rid of the engine codes from to much flow lol, but I feel much better than the little drive I took yesterday:) lol 😀

The code is from too much pollution. Not too much flow. Lol
Yes indeed it sure is I guess lol , but. Dam that exhaust sounds nice when hammering on it , except for the cold start lol , as I live with surrounding building s , as sound as it starts, I put it in gear , and slowly drive out lol not scare the neighbours he he Respect ✊ lol

Yes, E85..!! I have been mixing in 1-2 gallons into each tank for about a year now.
I will have my plug changed this coming Friday as the last Dyno run showed only 185 whp , different Dyno but still the same Dyno com type , I also noticed that my gas mileage has dropped lots as well , so will have the Spark plugs changed up and see if the car improves it performs back when it was running at 232 whp , if not then I know the gas is the problem:( as I always use Octane booster to make sure I have enough octane value to 94 ,, I have been using Chevron 94 from the same station, so then I can change up a bit if it is the gas ⛽!!’ How is your car running for the past year on e85 ?? Any changes noted ??

The winter gas here in Kelowna my be the biggest problem but with that being said , my GR 86 is still working decent !
