I would go with the unicorn tears. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. If you want to do the Ford “tears” and the Redline MTL to compare do the MTL first because I think that once you put in the tears you won’t look back 😊
Can you tell me how the Unicorn Tears make the shifter feel vs stock fluid?

He did in his previous comment

Just last week I dropped Redline 75w85 in the Diff and Ford XT-M5-QS “Unicorn Years” in the MT. Got them both on Amazon. Didn’t notice anything different with the Diff but I am very pleasantly surprised with the Ford fluid. The nickname for the Ford “Unicorn Tears” is deserved. Maybe it’s just a feeling but it seems to both shift and find gears (upshift and downshift) easier. The Miata guys swear by it and it is now my “go to” transmission fluid 😊

I will buy the Motorcraft XL-18 additive and send it to a member if anyone will try it and report back to the forum. PM me. I’d prefer it be added to OEM, but if you have good enough experience to say the fluid used is better or worse with the additive, I can live with that.

Trans oil:
Both are GL-4. MT-LV 70W/75W matches the OEM viscosity. Some have said that the OEM viscosity is so thin for fuel economy etc. at the expense of better feel. My question is, has anyone used the thicker MT-90 75W90 after break in and had good experiences with it? I'm sure it takes longer to warm up, but does it improve feel after warm up? I live in a SoCal. Thanks.

Same question for the Diff:
75W85 GL-5 gear oil would be the Redline recommended diff oil
but would a better choice be for better protection and less wear be the thicker: 75W90 GL-5 gear oil?
If you plan to track the car, stay away from MT-LV. I've used MTL and MT-90 in the trans at the track without issue...it just requires frequent changes. I'm currently using 1 bottle MTL and 1.5 bottle MT-90. If you track it, replace every 4 track days or so.

You can run 75W-85 in the diff for all uses. If you track it, replace every 6 track days or so.

Any particular reason to mix MTL in to MT-90? In context of just MT-90 vs mix. Also MT-85 might be pretty much mix of MTL and MT-90.

Have you thought about trying ford motorcraft transmission fluid?

I have MTL, ford motorcraft sitting in my garage and I am not happy with current Motul 75w80 for daily.

Edit: How do you know it needs changing? I had problems shifting for first time on track on a hot day, is that one of the indicators that it's wearing off? I had mild 3 track days on Motul. I would get UOA done this time.

I've been running Redline LV-MT in the tranny since I brought my 24 home in January , it has worked really well in cold temps and now very hot summer temps. I have Redline 75w90 in the diff. , I only drive the car 3 seasons per year so I prefer the 75w90 over 75w85 . I always view differential wear as having a linear inverse relation to viscosity on past vehicles I have tested. Generally speaking higher viscosity in the diff shows lower wear. I see this as cheap maintenance so I will likely dump the fluids every 1-2 years regardless of mileage.

On my Honda S2000 I ran Amsoil manual tranny fluid 5w30 and it worked really well, even in -20 degrees C it shifted better than the thinner Honda fluid. The S2000 and these cars use similar transmissions so I would like to try the Amsoil tranny fluid in my BRZ. A cheap and easy experiment.
