They removed the fin to wrap it. Prior to my appointment, they let me know it would be wrapped in two sections of vinyl due to the shape. Since I was getting the roof in PPF, I was wondering if I would like it in vinyl, but it looked really great for being a two piece wrap. The first piece wrapped the entire sides and top and second piece was a triangular piece on the back of the fin. Since then, I decided to just purchase a new fin from Subaru in Crystal Black Mica and they installed it and ceramic coated it for me. I only did that for the longevity of it since vinyl doesn’t stand up to Arizona sun and heat very well especially on the roof. I hope that helps you in whichever way you end up going.

I totally forgot that I could just buy a black shark fin from Subaru themselves. Thanks again for the insight!

I went ahead and had front clear PPF’ed and gloss black PPF on roof and ceramic coated entire vehicle. I love the new look.

Very late reply but how much did all of this cost you? I live in AZ as well and looking to get the front clear PPF'ed, along with a gloss black roof PPF, and window tint.

I'm 100% getting the Xpel Prime XR Plus window tint and figured I should try to also get the PPFs done by an XPEL installer on the same day. Haven't gotten quotes yet because my car still won't arrive until next month, but I'm curious how much this would cost in total... and you had a similar package except with ceramic coating instead of tint

Just realized my post, didn't post. Here's what I'm getting done this week. Includes A Pillars, Top Roof Black Gloss PPF, Rear Luggage. The PPF is full front that stops around the mirrors. Full Ceramic. Shop is more expensive than most around here in Ohio but I like the quality of their work more than the others. Hopefully no buyers remorse in the next few weeks.

Mine is gloss because I think it matches the rest of the car better. But I also think flat black would look good too. Pretty sure you can't go wrong here.

This attached picture I saw on Reddit was what originally inspired me to get a roof wrap, and it looks like it's in gloss as well. I'm going through with XPEL PPF and when I'm over there I'll try to compare gloss and satin in-person before deciding.


The gloss black on both of your cars looks great so that may be where I'm leaning

Yeah I'm going 5% tint on the rear and think tint that dark may go well with gloss 👍

Is that 5% rear? Yeah I think it blends well.

My concern for awhile has just been that gloss black may be a bit too reflective in the sunny AZ days.

I'll see if XPEL gloss black is similar enough to STEK

After sending that message, I remembered that what I saw was actually a premium GR86.

Haha I get what you mean about maybe having to get a different roof wrap. Mine is in Steel and it seems people are more likely to wrap the roof with that color so I'm sure I'll bump into a doppelganger eventually.
