New Guy, Dealer Logo Removal Tips?

Picked up a 2022 Pavement Baseyesterday after being on a couple waitlists and deposits for a couple months. So far enjoying the car very much, looking forward to 1000 miles.

This is a daily/track toy and as such wheels/tires, brake pads and fluid, and camber bolts are some of the first things I will be doing. And a duckbill cause they look great.

On to my question: what is the best way to remove these logos from back glass and hatch? I’m pretty comfortable with DIY as long as it’s a clear process.

Lastly, thanks to @Vertigyn , @LacroixDP, and @racer01 for answering a bunch of questions for me and “motivating” me to get back into something fun. Cheers.

Also for anyone out there Pedersen Toyota in Ft Collins, CO was great to work with, would recommend.

For the glass, if it is on the outside, just use a razor blade to scrape off the sticker, then some Windex and the razor to remove any glue. You could also use a adhesive solvent like goo gone.

For the sticker on the trunk, use a heat gun and gently use a plastic razor blade or similar object to lift the corner and peel it off. If the sticker is new, you can probably peel it off with just your fingers after heating it up. Then use some adhesive solvent to remove any glue.

Thanks for the advice all. Now to find out if my wife’s hair dryer gets hot enough to peel the paint stickers

Also I don’t know if anyone out there cares, but forward facing car seat fit just fine behind the passenger seat. I don’t believe anything will fit behind the driver seat for most drivers, however. I also very much doubt the rear facing seats would fit at all, but might work in a bind without a front passenger. Just some observations!

Wow, they went pretty aggressive with the badging. I'll never understand how the dealer would think anyone would want this on their car. Yeah, I would have made them take that off at the dealership. I wont even leave their license plate frame on. The glass should be easy like mentioned above. I bet if you just take your time on the trunk decal, you could probably pick those off with your fingers and some Goo Gone. I wouldn't go too crazy with a heat gun.

The one on the rear painted part is pretty normal dealer stuff but that glass decal is freaking obscene. I agree with the above posters on heat guns and razor blade on glass only plastic blade on paint goo gone etc.
while I’m ranting about car dealers ours tried to screw my wife on her trade of her Corolla and screw her on the interest rate for her payment but we took a photo of the signed agreement on the numbers so my wife since I was home with Covid caught them in the act ,scum bag sales manager and finance guy ! 🤬
don’t get me started on dealers right now because the prednisone I’m taking to recover from Covid makes me one mean son of a b*tch I can’t wait till the Jehovah’s Witness come when I’m home.
After I left a 43 year IT career with IBM I went to work in the parts department of a Mercedes dealership and good God you wouldn’t believe the markup and you wouldn’t believe the cheap crap they put in those cars that breaks at 10 or 15k miles ,one car at 13,000 miles had a sunroof control mechanism replaced four times! Mercedes s*ck and so does Lewis Hamilton and the f*cking F1 evil empire that Toto Wolff is trying to screw every other race team in F1 on the floor changes because his car s*cks and Ferrari and Red Bull got it right.
</rant>
There I’m sure I’ll get slapped by the moderators 😜

Yea pretty aggressive, my wife texted me “nice dealership logos” as we started off on the way home to rub in the salt lol.

I asked them twice to remove them and apparently the salesman was concerned for his job if he had them removed. I guess it just happens to be a sticking point with Mr. Pedersen? In any event having to remove a couple stickers wasn’t worth a fight in the context of an otherwise very smooth deal on the car. But yea, dealer plate frames didn’t last 5 min once I got to the house haha.

re: ft Collins: every time I go there I like it more. Great for the kids too.

Rubbing alcohol is your best friend. Razor blade on the glass only and no more than a 45 degree angle. As for the decal on the paint I would just carefully peel it off and also use rubbing alcohol to eat away the adhesive. You will also need a little more patience for the decal on the paint, but since it's a fresh decal it shouldn't be much trouble.

My sales guy already knew the drill... don't put squat on my car 🤣 Glad you got the car!! :D

This has to be one of the most obscene dealer advertisement crap I've ever seen on a car. I have done exactly what Ritter said once, told them if you're going to put crap on my car then you're paying me $100/mo for advertising. I bought a car not a billboard >.<

Same! My dealer was so terrorized by my warnings that it came off the truck, got filled with gas, and was parked in a corner of the lot and then boxed in by other inventory so nobody could back into it!

How hilarious would it be to sign your car papers and then on the way out plaster a bunch of your own stickers all over the dealership windows! 😆

It was definitely A LOT. But 20 mins to remove, life’s good no big deal.

In other news, DS2500 pads, camber bolts (Whiteline… that company takes me back), and a color matched plastic duckbill (Suma) have been ordered. Castrol SRF and alignment in the next couple weeks.

Trying to convince myself to buy sticky tires for the base wheels but…. So narrow. Trying to resist a wheel+tire purchase for a car with 150 miles on it.

Whiteline makes bunches of good stuff for 86s, solid CS as well. If that's a base there's another Suma product you should look at, their side mirrors. It might just be me but that drivers side is easy to miss people there without BSM. Those mirrors fixes that problem right up, very worthwhile upgrade imo. You've already got a line on the good brake fluid :)

The temptation of bigger/wider tyres was too much for me to bear. Got impatient and bought 18x9.5s which necessitated overnighting every single suspension part I had planned for the entire car then begging my local tuning shop to install everything for me in time for the free HPDE :) I do not give out tyre width and fitment and offset advice, it is not something I'm good at but there's lots of people on here that are! I went 35 profile but that is simply because I need more road noise and feedback to compensate for nerve issues. It is likely way too jarring for most people's tastes.

I’m looking to copy your SSR GTX04 choice in 18x8.5 +44 with 245/35 tires. I wish the falkens came in 245/35 but the closest choice is 245/40 which is probably fine but a half inch higher wheel centerline is a thing. I’ll probably end up with ps4s which was my biggest draw to the premium (and the spoiler) but just didn’t want all the extra stuff the premium came with.
Ill look at those mirrors - checking my drivers side blind spot out the back window alley oop around the driver seat will prob get old fast.

I have the RT660s on 18x8.5s I think… but went 235/40 with them just to give me a nudge more dartiness. Along with the camber setup it’s more playful even with the super sticky PS4S. I’m wanting to say the 4S’s might have gotten discontinued. When I looked a few weeks ago it looks like there’s PS5s now. I have not gotten to try the RT660 setup yet though, had to cancel my upcoming HPDE for a surgery to fix my left arm.

GTX04s are the bees knees! 8.5 will be much less of a headache for you, I don’t think you’ll have to do all the suspension work I rushed. Someone can probably confirm that offset since I get it wrong 100% of the time.
