Thanks for posting. I didn’t have that speced on my GR86. I just checked mine and is black edge with red filter material, but it is just a red paper, not mesh/cotton/oil like K&N or the GR that you have. I will probably switch out after this one gets dirty.

It is just a paper filter but the paper is red which I found funny, because the performance filters are red. Normally they are just white. I can snap a shot sometime.

wonder what the gains are for he GR filter... maybe 3-5 HP? would need a dyno compare to be sure. I just dropped mine in.

Little update for those interested, they seem to have updated the GR Air Filter Info on their end. Not sure when this happened. Seems like it is not an oiled filter like K&N, but it does look very similar.

Yeah, I bought one and it says right on the box 'use 1 oz K&N oil when cleaning'

I just took out my filter to replace it with a new KN Filter... and the two filters well... look almost 90% identical. Anyone know if the GR Filter is really just a cheaper relabeled KN filter?

It uses a similar cotton gauze media and oil as a k&n - even if it's not branded as one/manufactured by k&n - it's likely would be almost identical performance.

There are other companies that manufacture oiled gauze filters as well BMC, AFE, etc.

If it was me and you already have the GR filter, i'd just return the k&n.

I would imagine so, the GR filter looks identical to the K&N and K&N also co developed the GR performance exhaust so it would make sense they would also provide the performance filter, just rebranded with the GR logo (which is sweet imo).

Anyone know what the GR air filter is? Or what the difference would be? I can't find it as an option on when building one on the Toyota website, and Google isn't helpful. Found this on the dealership spec sheet for a car I'm putting a deposit on.

I got one with my port bloat-although I thinking it was only $60.00. Looks like a K&N. It’s washable as well so over the life of the vehicle I assume it will pay for itself……

Yea, I just picked one up (K&N) for my car as well, paid the same for it.
