Hi guys !
I come with news from Toyota Belgium!

The global recalls for the ECU brake will be placed end-September/beginning-October. The solution should be a software update, Toyota Japan still work on it, test etc. No GR86 until then.
My 86 still at the dealership, they give me a MY22 Yaris Hybrid as replacement until I get my GR86. Nice little car though.
I just heard about the silicon issue. Is this only recently ? GR86 is driven since more than a year in Japan and US, why issue happen only now ?
Hi,

What's the matter with ECU brake? Those on mine are all right.

They have been talking about rtv for over a month. So this is not the reason for blocking deliveries.

New EU cars from may 2022 (I think?) need some kind of emergency stop signal.

I saw this list of items being required:
"intelligent speed assistance; alcohol interlock installation facilitation; driver drowsiness and attention warning; advanced driver distraction warning; emergency stop signal; reversing detection; and event data recorder (“black box”). "

May actually require eyesight in manuals. New models released in Australia from may 2023 have a similar requirement, though as long as they release the car before then they can keep selling it for another two years.

That's only for newly EU approved cars from June 2022 onward. GR86 dodges the bullet as it was homologated before June. From 2024 all cars need to have these systems, that's why they will stop selling it in the EU. Toyota has already confirmed they will never update the GR86 to meet those safety standards.

Its clearly explained in the 1761 posts before yours ;)

Those rules DO NOT APPLY to the GR86.

You are right, I meant you can oversteer it very easily with Michelin Primacy with ESP.

Is that something EU regulations want to fight?
Yes, the car oversteers e.g. in rain and then quickt gets brutally caugth by VSC.
I saw videos of the GR86 where they drifted with activated VSC (maybe track mode, but activted).

I think that should not be possible, at least not when VSC is fully activated.

The rumor above is, that there will be an additional VSC mode.

I GUESS (== pure speculation) that its something like the "sport" mode on early Gen1 cars and the "Track"-Mode will be untouched, but maybe illegal on public roads.
Lots of cars have track modes, that are only allowed at the track.
But maybe my idea is nonsense, because its totally legal to disable VSC completely.

I own a GT86 since 2013 and i can clearly not drift with activated esp. Also not in "Sport" mode.
Maybe its different with the facelifts "track" mode?
Yes that is the case. With the track mode of the 2016 facelift model, he let the rear wheel slide a good one to two meters, in the sport mode of the 2013 model only about half a meter.

According to latest information, the time limit for making the last orders in Belgium is 5 September. Delivery : end 2023! New orders could reopen next year.
Good to know.
I tried buying mine in Luxembourg one month ago but they told me that it was too late.

So I ordered mine in France, but come to think of it, I wonder if the dealer in Luxembourg was right (maybe he was confused and thought I wanted a Yaris GR ?).
