@AKGR86
Regarding the carbon fiber version, I believe it comes UV clear coated but I don’t know for certain the quality of the clear, as I purchased the FRP version. I would hit it with a ceramic coat for sure. Ask readyfreddy_90 on IG:
Freddy had professionals do the install so his knowledge is a little limited. Epic car tho! And I would recommended the carbon version as I need to have the FRP version prepped and painted, ultimately I will have ended up spending more than just purchasing the carbon version, which is also significantly lighter. Live and learn.

Regarding the rear diffuser: yes you will be drilling small holes around the upper parameter of the OEM diffuser. The kit includes self tapping screws for this section. I used a translated app to convert the instructions into English.

Thank you for the infos.

I just don't know if I should drill the holes around the top parameter of the original diffuser first or if I should drill the holes when the new diffuser is temporarily attached and then drill all the holes in the original and new diffuser all together.

@AKGR86 Also, where did you get that color image? I would love more documentation before I embark on the install in early Jan. PS: I have the instructions for the front lip and side skirts too.
I got it from AIMGAIN as a PDF
AIMSPORT GR 86 リア.pdf

Can you please send me or post the instructions for the front lip and side skirts?

@AKGR86 If I am comprehending the instructions correctly: drill the small holes along the top-edge the OEM diffuser first, drilling from the exterior-side of the OEM diffuser.
—Then with the bumper off, temporarily affix the Aimgain diffuser using the OEM pop clips on the underside. The Aimgain diffuser comes with holes that align with the underside OEM pop clips holes.
—Then from the interior-side of the OEM diffuser use your perviously drilled holes along the top-edge of the OEM diffuser as pilot holes to drill into the top-edge backside lip of the Aimgain diffuser, carefully not to go thru both side of the lip (see picture of said lip).
—The directions don't specify, but I image its best to secure each drilled hole one-by-one with a self-tapping screw and you move from the center-outwards. IDK?

Picture of the folded lip that you will be drilling into thru the pilot holes on the interior-side of the OEM diffuser. It's contoured back against the other side of the Aimgain diffuser. Meaning it's going to be incredibly hard not to punch thru the exterior-side of the Aimgain diffuser. Let me know if you have differing thoughts on how it goes on, or any other info to add...

I think I'll temporarily attach the diffuser first and see before I start drilling the holes.

Next, I'm wondering: Do I need to drill the hole on the edge or under the edge? In this picture you can see both.
The blue mark is under the edge and the red mark is on the edge

I will check and see again when I get the diffuser.
I got told I have to wait 4-6 months.

Thank you for the ranslated instructions.

@AKGR86 interesting find! I will make an assumption that the different placement of the 2 wholes helps pull the Aimgain diffuser into place. The blue hole position will pull inwards, and the red hole will pull downwards, while the pop clip holes underside will pull upwards. You can better envision the hypothesis while looking at the lip contours of the Aimgain diffuser:

Have you installed the diffuser yet?
If so can you tell where the holes need to be drilled correctly?

Do you have pictures of the screws?

So they put vortex generators on a roof spoiler? Don't vortex generators help keep the airflow attached? Aren't roof spoilers designed to separate airflow? What am I missing here?
I believe this has been discussed in another thread, but you're correct. The vortex generators alone might have some positive effect, but putting them on a roof spoiler is just for show.

I believe this is one of the lesser known body kits for the GR86, yet a very good-looking one. It is quite simplistic and straightforward and gives the car an OEM+ look (even more so than the TRD body kit in my opinion).

They have a carbon set and an FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) set, both consisting of front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, ducktail and vortex generator.
Question for the side steps.
1. Do they require drilling into the rocker panel?
2. Are they installed using dbl sided tape, or with screws only?

I have the front and side lip kit, yes you need to drill the oem side skirts and due to the design, if you ever remove the aimgain steps some holes will be visible. I had to buy another set of oem sideskirts in case I ever go back to stock.

I like the aimgain kit. How dramatic are the holes? I asked 86Worx and they responded as below.
Do you remember how many holes were required and how many are visible? Do you have any close pictures?

Sorry or all the questions and thanks in dvance

Hello,

Both parts require drilling, but the holes are from the underside. So, unless you are standing under the vehicle, the holes won't be visible from the removal of these parts in case of going back to stock.
Thanks!

There's a reason I bought another set of oem sideskirts. One of the holes towards the back is very visible. If you install the aimgain side lip kit, I would plan on keeping it installed or buying another set like I did.
