Yeah I figured as much. Will you BYO oil for the logbook services with Subaru? Curious what others will do in this situation too where they switch to heavier oils in between the scheduled logbook services.
Given the RTF issues, I will be letting the dealer do the specified Capped Price Services, as I don't want to give any opportunities to wriggle out of any warranty claim.

Also note that many car warranties will allow other brands of oils, etc, provided they meet or exceed what the book specifies AND provided any work is done by a properly qualified mechanic/workshop. Need to be careful with DIY. I haven't read the Subaru book (yet), but you may wish to check before any DIY?

I won’t be using the dealer for servicing. I’d really like to do it myself but may just end up using an independent mechanic and providing the oil and filter. I’m still researching the ACCC new car warranty stuff and what “qualified to do so” actually means because it doesn’t specify a specific qualification. Plenty of apprentices with no "qualifications" do services at dealerships. I would’ve thought over 15 years of servicing multiple vehicles as well as ground-up race car builds including engine builds means I’m “qualified to do so” to change the oil and follow a basic safety checklist but we’ll see. I may do it myself and go above and beyond to document thickness left on each brake pad etc etc.

Looks like quite a few new BRZs are hitting the road at present - I saw another one in WR blue yesterday & we waved to each other! I think the cars winked their DRLs at each other also...............
No-one on the GR86 thread appears to be getting any cars, so I feel for them & hope it improves for them soon.
I think those of us who jumped ship to the BRZ are being vindicated. Toyota have been so disappointing with the GR86 launch, communication, supply, etc.

Operation lighthouse complete!

Just did the LED swap all round, I’m sticking with my previous opinion that 6000k is way too white and bright for the interior. Seems to be little in the way of options though, found a Philips globe that is warm white but it seems to be discontinued.

Anyway I’ll see how it goes, maybe I’ll get used to it!

Sure was!
There is a great place to meet in the carpark at the beach end of Hart St, unless it is a busy beach day - many car groups use those carparks for meetups.

On the subject of dealer maintenance... I'd be careful. Don't remember if I mentioned this earlier in the thread but the first oil change with my dealer in SA (starts with E) ended up with them rattle-gunning my oil drain plug. Shitloads of paint missing off the bolt, had to get it on a lift and use a breaker bar to undo it for my last oil change @ 1Y/12,000km. Seriously worrying and shoddy work - I didn't bother reporting it to them since this was the second or third "bullshit strike" they'd hit me with. Cheaper and more educational to do the work myself in the future.

Dealer just messaged me and said my car is in Bris undergoing the compliance check and will be able to set a delivery date for later this month! Time to decide on whether to get a paint matched TRD duckbill spoiler for my Ignition Red BRZ or to buy a black one for a bit of contrast.

Solved my throttle pedal mismatch to brake pedal, instead of shelling out $100's ($240 plus postage) of dollars for a spacer or trying to manufacture one myself, I took a leaf out of Ant Anstead's book from Wheeler Dealers. He had a similar situation with the brake pedal of a Datsun Fairlady. Took out the loud pedal and carefully bent the metal shaft to bring it up and over, and hey presto! Throttle blips when downshifting.

And seeing the range the pedal has, it should still be able to reach the plastic floor stopper without issue also. That will mean it will hold shape fine without trying to bend back if it was floating off the stop at full extension.
