Who in Australia has ordered the 2022 BRZ

I ordered mine as a manual in Magnetite Grey, with the dealer yesterday after sorting out the trade in.
I went for the Coupe as the "S" level only adds heated front seats and leather seats which to me was a waste of money.

Compared with a gen1 86 back to back, same pressure on the pedal the old gen was around 2k rpm when the new BRZ barely moved. Same deal when rev matching, "tap" is not enough now.

But yeah, I feel Im a lot smoother with the ZD8 just need time to adjust muscle memories.
From what I've read, the Gr86 has a different throttle map to the new BRZ and is better calibrated at the initial tip[ in, and is less doughy. Getting the pedal set up for heel toeing and a throttle controller to change the pedal calibration, is my first mod. Fun little car to enjoy in the hills though!

Raising the pedal height is the first thing I did to the car. Was extremely uncomfortable trying to heel’toe before hand.

What did you use to raise the pedal height?
Stacked together washers that fitted the stud neatly to create spacers, then made some little mounting blocks that attach to the throttle pedal base to give the thing a decent base of support. The pedal sits 10mm higher than standard now.

Thanks, will have a go at it this week. Frustrating not being able to blip downshifts when on the brakes( still can but needs to be more ergonomically set up). The distance between brake and throttle pedals seems fine, it's just the height difference.
Some of the height difference can be corrected with big steel cap work boots I’ve found, does make a little harder to get in and out the car though. This isn’t needed once the pedal is lifted :).
Just came across the genuine frameless rear view mirror for the gen1. Anyone know if these will work in our gen2's?

Yeah I had to change my technique a bit because of it - annoying!

Trying to keep the weight down. My work boots will be a couple of kilos i reckon 😁

Brought the call in this morning for its 1 months/1000km inspection.

Literally took about 30min max. This sounds about right? Have never had a 1 month inspection completed this quick......

Yeah mine was super quick, also didn’t have an opportunity to speak to any technicians (the way they market it). And for some reason they replaced my service sticker with a timeframe for a month later than it would actually be due for its annual service…

Mmmm - no way it should be > 12 months from delivery, so that is a mistake.

I am thinking of an interim oil change @ 6 months for mine in the first year only, depending on how many kms I do.

I will probably only do 5,000km per year, but if I was doing more, I probably would be changing oil every 7,500km or so, if I was intending to keep the car for a long time, or if I was using it hard.

BTW, make sure you get your maps updated at the 1 month, as mine & others are from 2021.

Regarding map, that can be done at home over the air update. Unless you're saying the map update you received at the dealer is late 2022/2023?

Regarding the 1 month inspection - seems like a fairly useless exercise unless there is any glaring issues with the car. They should follow the Euro's way of doing it by removing the need of physical log books + 1 month inspection.

How long does it take to load the maps?

I might try next time I am near a public WiFI (I don't have WiFi at home)

Yeah I think they just went into autopilot mode and slapped a new sticker on looked at the next service in the logbook and wrote that down. All good I’m getting an oil change post the 1600km break in and then based on how much I drive will probably also do one between each logbook service.
With my wife's new 2022 Kia Cerato GT, I decided to give the 3 month complimentary service check a miss and just had the annual dealer service last month. Had a few new cars and it's pretty much the same with all makes. I think it is just a nice gesture for someone who has spent their hard earned on a new vehicle.( unless something needs attention)

All the cars I have bought in recent times have gone in for their 1 or 3 month check and in all cases they did check them over on the hoist for leaks, tightness, etc plus under the bonnet.

It is rare to find anything, but I have noticed the odd fluid level has been topped up after some of these.

By not taking it in, if something goes wrong which could have been picked up earlier, warranty may be an issue.

Besides, I would never ignore a free service! You don't get a freebie very often.
Had my 1Month/1k check up done this morning.

Like everyone else here the experience was super quick, hardly 30 mins.

Unlike VW & Volvo (only others car brands I have owned and have service experience with), there was absolutely no paper work. There was no printed checklist that was ticked with before and after values and other observations, etc. Maybe this is only for Free Health check and the Annual service would be more through.

I requested the Subaru Service Team to switch off the Active Sound Control and I like how the car sounds now.
I have HKS Spec L2 Catback Exhaust. the exhaust is not very loud and I drive with windows closed all the time, so I do get a quiet drive around cruising speed and little bit of bassy rumble when revved.

The 1 month 1000km "check and chat" is purely a means to introduce the customer to the service department of the dealer. My first service sticker says due at 15,000km and I called my dealer, which is a 3 hour drive away, and they confirmed the 1000km is just an Australian thing, is optional and has no impact on the warranty.

Personally I'll be changing to a decent 0w-30 or 5w-30 GF-6A oil myself at 1500km, just in time to give it all the beans, as an extra care measure for the car and 10k intervals (or 1 year, whichever comes first) after that.

Yeah I figured as much. Will you BYO oil for the logbook services with Subaru? Curious what others will do in this situation too where they switch to heavier oils in between the scheduled logbook services.
