Last night, to celebrate my 1 year anniversary with the BRZ, I installed the Nameless Performance axleback with the 5 inch mufflers. Definitely louder at start up like a lot of exhausts for the platform but it quiets down nicely and has a nice rumble driving around town, not even close to being obnoxious. To quote Mrs.BirdYYC on a drive last night "this is what I expected the car to sound like, it's not even loud".

It's a bit expensive, especially with the CAD/USD and shipping to Canada, but the quality is fantastic and the welds on this thing are beautiful. I can totally understand why Cosworth worked with Nameless on the previous platform. I will make special mention of the excellent customer service at Nameless as I called Steven to see if they had availability before I ordered on Monday afternoon and he had it shipped that day and on my doorstep on Wednesday. The tips are not adjustable so you need to ensure you're happy with the placement on the hangers before you button it down.

Stock axleback was 21.6lbs, Nameless was 18.2lbs.

Below is a little cold start video with a couple of small revs at the end. Stock startup was 77.1db before settling down to the high 50s. Nameless was 83.7db before settling down to the high 60s. I wanted something a bit louder that wouldn't annoy my neighbours (as you can see in the video my garage opens to the house behind me) while also being respectful of my local track's 96db sound limit and this fit the bill perfectly for me. I might do some driving videos if requested but the video from WIll L on Youtube gives an accurate representation.
sounds great, I wonder what the full cat back sounds compared to this - I have an HKS Spec L2, has nice tone but wanting something louder.

In watching videos on the exhaust, I found that their catback video was a bit more raspy which I didn't want and I also don't believe the stock midpipe is a restriction. You do have the option of buying the midpipe afterwards and the delta for not buying it all at once isn't that bad, especially since you're in the US and don't get killed on shipping like I do. I really like the axleback and I can't speak highly enough about the quality of it.

Pulled the trigger on new street/canyon tires, Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 in 225/45/17. I seem to go through tires every 5-6k miles, so when these went on sale I couldn’t say no. Surprisingly stiff sidewalls (actually induce some rattles in the cabin) and turn-in is noticeably sharper than the base Primacy tires. Actually more comparable to my track tires (gtradial sx2) in terms of stiffness. The reviews didn’t mention them being stiff so I’m guessing it’s because I bought an XL-load size (94Y). Haven’t had a chance to push these tires hard, but based on reviews the grip should be a step up from the Primacys, but not quite PS4 or sx2 level.

These tires seem to run true to size and clear a double camber bolt stock suspension front setup on 17x8 +42 with about 3-4mm to spare.

I figured that adding some color to a gray and black car was a good idea. Interestingly, that is only 1/4 inch vinyl pinstripe tape. The same that I used on the black section of the front splitter. I tried 1/16 inch tape and it looked really classy, but it disappeared in just a couple of car lengths back. I want people to notice me in traffic.

After ripping up the flooring to add some sound-deadening material, I finally got around to fixing my dead pedal. The dead pedal was the first thing I noticed that I did not like. It was not bad but, it squeaked and felt loose. To fix it, I put some drywall anchors in the holds for the plastic rivets. I had to put some rubber washers on the back side so the drywall anchors would not spin. I just took the whole metal bracket out to work on it and here are some pictures of it re-installed. It feels solid as a rock and no squeaking.

wow that seems excessive. When i had a gen 1 i had those tires as well, and i liked them, minus the terrible tire wear. I haven't put that many miles on the current car yet and it's btw two sets of tires but 5k seems at least 3 or 4 times too fast.

I should add that even on my street setup, more than half of the miles are hard (fun) canyon miles. It definitely hurts the wallet a bit to replace tires once per year plus track tires, but as my friend likes to say, at least I’m getting my moneys worth enjoying the car haha. But yeah I’m always on the lookout for cheap-ish fun street tires.

Btw did you have these Dunlops on your gen 1? How bad was the tire wear? I was hoping this hard compound would be durable. I guess even if fast wearing though, I can’t complain for the price.
