I'm not usually one to start these sorts of threads, but I've grown to prefer this forum over the other one. And they have a similar thread to this so...

I just bought these items personally:

Nearly all parts cost. Everything aside from frameless mirror, ppf, and tire mounting was installed by yours truly lol

But that's not even that crazy apparently. There are a fair number of people $20k into mods with just wheels, tires, coils, brakes, and aero on FB already. Insane because I feel I'm already a little wild but apparently not lol.
The aftermarket is crazy good for these cars which makes it so tempting to spend money. I could dump $5000 into wheels, tires, and suspension alone for a really nice setup and still have a laundry list of mods I want to do to the rest of the car lol.

I list out the kinds of parts I'd want for a dream build. It ends up around $50k, -100lbs., and assumed improved refinement. That's still zero engine mods, just an exhaust. Not worth it, but I don't know where else I'm going to find a more modern car at 2600lbs.+ that I care about more. It's not like a used Lotus Evora GT 6MT has the reliability, nor the 800lb. weight drop.

Agreed. Although I put like $70k into my Supra from the time I was 19 to when I hit 30 lol.

Considering ordering a new air box to pry out that charcoal filter. Was hoping someone could confirm that the maf and ecu didn’t over correct negatively over time.
No reason to worry whatsoever. Other regions do not even have that filter (inside the same airbox assembly), and I have an aftermarket intake (so a step further) and it's been on my car a few thousand miles now.

If you do end up doing this, could you share the part number you ordered?
I've thought about doing this and "building" a custom intake utilizing the OEM filter housing+resonator (minus the charcoal filter), and adding an aftermarket inlet tube where the MAF plugs in.

Thanks! Here's the associated Subaru part number as well.

Unrelated to the discussion at hand, but how do you like your SS1 coilovers? Leaning towards taking the plunge on those as my double-duty daily (and eventual) entry-level track suspension.

Yeah just wasn’t sure if all the cars got the same tune or not

Have no experience with any other coilovers but these SS1s are great...very compliant, takes bumps far better than the OEM struts. Even on the stiffer settings I wouldn't consider them to be harsh. I daily my car on 10 clicks from full stiff & the car is always composed, easy to control at the limits, & drives like it's on rails.

Main reason I chose them was quality & reliability. You are basically getting custom valved KWs at a discount. Another set I strongly considered was CSG Spec Tein Flex A's. It was tough to decide between the two as both are highly regarded. Don't think you could go wrong with either choice though.

Also want to note that RCE customer service is top notch 👌

Got an alignment tonight. Surprisingly the eyeball aligning I did when I put the coils on was nearly perfect - don’t ask me how. Only small tweaks to camber were needed to get it where I wanted.

I'd likely take the KWs/ST any day too, and that's even given I have TEIN springs. I honestly just feel like they're at a higher level, and some of the Toyota GR86 demo cars in JP run ST-TAs (Orido also uses them on his cars).

Those KW or ST coil overs are on my dream list! How long can they work well on a daily driver? Are they well sealed and durable?

I'm no expert and have not owned a set, but apparently they're just awesome all around lol. Durable, ride great whether just cruising or tracking etc.

That said, for me, I'd do the RCE SS1s just for the support, how many people have used them that can assist with setup, and they're a bit less money.

Gf and I had the two GR cars out and about running errands, getting food, and enjoying a nice day with some WOT and sounds :)

Did some things this past week.

- Tien H lowering springs. To me, these are a perfect OEM+ drop if you will. This is how the car should’ve come from the factory. Very comfortable ride quality while gaining look and performance.

- OTL Equal Length catted Header (coated). I’m not a fan of the WRX sound. This header sounds great paired with the GR catback. It’s actually LESS “droney” than the OEM header paired with the GR catback.

- Car has 900 miles on it, so changed the oil with some 0W-20 liquidmoly full syn. I’ll swap over to a 5w-20 next change.

- Next up is a wee bit of tuning…
