Well Matt Farrah from Smoking Tire seemed to be very happy with the improvements made to version 2. He mentioned not only that the engine makes more power and torque but its the way the engine makes more power and torque. He felt the gear box was better, especially when you slot sideways going up from second to 3rd. He felt that the brakes were very impressive even after the cars at Monticello were being thrashed. He says that the car corners even flatter than the version one and that with the bigger wheels and tires on the premium the car has the cornering power of a Porsche Boxster/Cayman. Yet with such flat cornering the ride is very good. He mentioned the lowering of center of gravity has given the car a natural ability to corner better without Toyota/Subaru having to firm up the ride. He did mentioned the sound box behind the dashboard giving a fake intake sound. From the outside the car seems quiter then the inside. On the engine performance he did mention that it still does have a small amount of torque dip. However, due to the torque curve and there being so much torque so much earlier in the rev range that you can quickly get around the dip to the point that it is not really noticeable. He even enjoyed the base car with the smaller tires. So to sum up Toyota/Subaru have kept the character of version one while improving the weaknesses that version one had. The one thing he did not like was the removal of the bolster pads around the doors and the center console. Due to the high cornering speeds of the premium model he sustained bruises on his shins as the standard seats could not hold him in very well. That's a pretty strong endorsement of the new car. Don't you think.
