I mean, you gotta think it through. If US implements tariffs that make foreign things more expensive, they should offer domestic alternatives for these products so that US citizens buy more stuff made in America. That's the whole point right? If GR86/BRZ becomes too expensive, an American car manufacturer should step forward, fill in the gap and produce their own affordable lightweight manual ICE sports car.
The problem with that theory is that all American manufacturers have left that market and are not going back, they want to sell you trucks and SUV's.

Cars like the twins will never be developed again, this was a longshot by Subaru and Toyota and they hit a homerun, but no one else will create that type of vehicle again. The Miata will remain as it was developed long ago.

The big three will never develop a new car, never , ever, ever, did I say never ? They are so short sighted and they can't stomach low volume vehicles, they have gotten rid of so many good vehicles over the years. The development costs are too high and they are apt to drop models after a few good years, like nothing. They want to sell you big ass trucks and SUV's, that is where their profits are, cars don't make money for them.

The best cars in the world are ones developed many years back, and ones that have been improved upon year after year and developed a strong following of customers as a result. The big three have made lots of cars but did not let them flourish enough to keep in production. The Corvette and the Mustang are the last mohicans among the Big 3, but they did it the right way with both cars, kept them going for many years and improving upon them year after year. Dodge did well with the Challenger but but they did not have it in regular production for long periods of time, the charger is now gone. I owned 2 SRT-4's years back, loved them both (Neon and Caliber versions) , hated to see them go.

Honda can't bring back the S2000, not enough volume to make a total redesign profitable and no one can stomach low volume cars these days, not even Honda who has done well with cars i the past. You won't see a new ICE sports car, sorry I just don't see it.

The price of everything is going up, so much price increases are coming down the pipeline, just look at Walmart, Amazon, the price of coffee, food, like everything. Companies like Subaru can't avoid the price increases, their recent price change is no surprise and not as bad as I would have expected. Who wants to see Apple Iphones at $3,500 , lol, I never owned one in my life and never will but it could happen.

I am soooooo SUV-ed and Big Truck-ed out. I hate the $%^&* things. Just stop. Somehow, the marketing team convinced everyone that they need a giant ass vehicle to run basic errands & daily driving. "Wee Lihke tah siht up higher". Sure, thats solid.

So yeah, cool sports cars, coupes, etc. are all being nuked left & right. I understand they are making trilions off of these overpriced, behemoth trucks but they could still serve the enthusiast market. Bleh!

I totally agree, my car never feels so small until I cross the border and drive in the US . The amount of trucks and big ass SUVs there is really high, and the percentage of those vehicles gets higher the further south you go (at least that is what I noticed).

One good thing is that the Cybertruck is turning into a dismal failure, used prices on them are hitting rock bottom already, production far outstrips demand on that vehicle, I don't see it sticking around long term.
