When I have the car in track mode with the stability off icon illuminated, is all stability control and traction control fully off? The reason I ask is that when I’m on track I see the stability control icon flashing at times when the car is oversteering. I don’t feel any obvious interference but I wonder if there perhaps is something subtle going on.

Track mode lets you get a little bit loose with stability and traction, but will stop you if you go too far. If you hold the left traction control button for a few seconds until it shows the track style tachometer, it will turn everything fully off

EDIT: I guess traction off doesn't fully turn it off

track mode is a misnomer, however, it probably saves alot of cars from showing on youtube wrapped around an inanimate object.

holding down the left button for several seconds (until display changes) disables nearly all of the nannies. You still have a limited stability function but its more a last ditch effort rather than corrective action.

The "pedal dance" disables every thing except abs. You can buy a device to do the dance for you. It's for "off-road" use only. Or for ppl who have driven cars built before 2005, when vehicle dynamics control became somewhat mandatory.

pulling the abs fuse, too, makes it full racecar.

manual has a description of track & stability buttons. Whether the airbags are pre-loaded when nannies are triggered was unclear.

Note: if you are seeing the stability light blinking on the dash, you're probably driving beyond your ability. Disabling that nanny requires enabling your phone's video to auto upload your fun. :)

I never could get the pedal dance to work on my 23.

Are you certain about this? I've been able to do literally whatever I want with the left button held down, including sustained, high angle slides.

What is the pedal dance?

You can drift the car without any buttons pressed. You can drift any vehicle in any mode if you are sufficiently motivated.

I'm quoting the factory manual. I'd finally stopped and read it when driving it home, after an "experience". The "track" button enables a fun HPDE experience for the average driver. The "press & hold left button" defeats nearly everything.

nannies don't prevent stupid, they help correct oops.

I spun my 86 the 3rd day I had it driving through an intersection I've used for 25 years. I heard the system kick in halfway through, felt the brakes actuate, managed to put down my coffee in time to catch the spin before I became one with the curb. Every other time, the nannies have worked in time.

I joined every forum dedicated to this car. Searching here for "pedal dance" didn't return anything from useful. Maybe another forum has details?

I honestly think the pedal dance was last gen. It does nothing on my car and I've tried it a bunch if times.

My understanding is that Track Mode turns most, but no all, safety features off. The only way to shut everything off is to go through the "pedal dance" procedure.

Order of nannies support
no buttons pushed, no lights on dash - full nannies
track button pushed (display changes) - partial nannies, allows for hpde fun
traction button pushed - partial nannies but not enabled for hpde fun
traction button push and for several seconds (display changes) - all nannies defeated, except rear brakes in a particular situation

manual has a chart. shows difference between auto and manual. as well as actions each button causes.

There's no magic. It's a computer. We all have the same settings programed in. Hacking the settings isn't possible yet but coming soon.
