If you don't mind me asking, which dealer did you purchase from? I also live in NC and I'm currently in reservation hell lmao.

I was there as well. Got tired of waiting and started looking. Found what I wanted out of state and went to pick it up. To this day I don't think Hendricks of Fayetteville even attempted to get the right allocation. Never heard a word from them and was really disappointed with their sales team.

So I originally put my deposit down at Leith Toyota back in January. Few months passed and I started to get impatient so started to call around the south east region for allocations I saw on the Toyota website. Long story short a salesman from Mark Jacobson hit me up in May and told me this Neptune base MT was available at MSRP so I immediately reserved it. Once I picked up the car in June I called Leith and got my refund back.

Damn, that's where I have a reservation currently. I've had the same experience and it's just been radio silence... Guess I will be a little more aggressive in looking for dealerships with allocations.

Good idea. From my understanding, not all dealerships do waitlists so once you see a car allocated to a dealer nearby it’s worth calling and asking. I hope you get yours soon!

Hi there, I’m in South Carolina and ordered my BRZ on Monday. I went the Subaru because Toyota dealerships are a nightmare to deal with!

Hi! JP from Bonita Springs, FL. Gave Germain Toyota of Naples, FL $1K deposit in January 2022 and got my second color choice (first was red) on June 6. Base model in halo white with manual trans came in at MSRP plus interior/exterior protection and tinted glass, which was about another grand, and which the dealer gave me no choice. I am sure the tint was a good idea but not sure the exterior protection was worth the added cost (I am sure the interior protection wasn’t worth it).

So fairly happy with dealer, and very happy with my GR86. Was looking forward to Sebring track day next year but after reading the posts about brakes and tires needed for that I am having second thoughts.

Here’s what I gave up to get the GR86, which was a tough call. Loved my RSX Type S. Gave serious consideration to keeping it and fixing minor cosmetic issues of this car that was still running like a tank when I sold it for nearly half what I paid for it new in 2006. 119K trouble-free miles. Still had original clutch and exhaust. The only thing it ever needed was brakes and tires.

I'm over in Central Florida with my base Raven 6AT, Brevard County area. My second car is an FK7 Honda Civic Sport Touring hatchback, but I daily the 86 instead and the Civic is what I use for when I need to travel with friends/when I need to haul some stuff around.

Loved the original ZN6 chassis growing up when I was a high school kid, bought an S2000 instead, hated it after 1 year, sold that and I've been following every single update on the new generation GR86/BRZ twins since they were revealed. Spent literally months of research on these cars and I'm probably never leaving the platform - strongly looking forward to meeting more new owners over the next several years (y)

What did you hate about the S2000?

I wish there was a way I could TL;DR it, unfortunately I don't have a way to do so. Truthfully I think it was just too compromised and too hardcore of a sports car and that's why I fell out of love with it, I wasn't the right owner for it that's all. I had impulsively bought it because it was a "cool flashy car" and honestly I had my head up my ass, in hindsight I shouldn't have done that; I did less than an hour of research on Google before I went to pick up the car with a check.

My ego got to my head and I loved keeping it around just to show off the keys and have the privilege of saying I owned an S2000, but the more I kept trying to use it in the real world the less I enjoyed it. I didn't like the lack of low end power when the car was under 6000rpm, it didn't have a backup camera, it didn't have passive keyless entry, there was no interior storage, the cupholders were a joke, there was no way to add Apple Carplay/Android Auto with an aftermarket double DIN, and with the soft top closed I couldn't see anything at all around me due to the huge blind spots. The engine sounded like a musical instrument and I looked like a movie star behind the wheel, but it was just too uncomfortable to putter around town in and I never drove it anywhere.

The Toyota/Subaru twins may be compromised in certain areas and not nearly as fast around a racetrack as the S2000 platform, but you can drive them 7 days a week instead of 1-2 days a week.

SW/FL here. Halo white base/std.

Has anyone taken advantage of the Toyota/NASA complimentary track time at Sebring?

I'd be good for the December 18th session but unfortunately I feel so hesitant to lock it in, I'm rather one foot in/one foot out - still working on trying not to be nervous about track driving (even though it's the reason why I bought the car). I understand that the car is a material object and that it can be replaced, but I'm mainly concerned about my ineptness causing a problem for others while the track is hot. May wait until either I put more miles on the car or until 2023 before signing up for it.

I am thinking about the same. Not worried as much about others, but wondering if I really want to take a chance damaging my daily driver. It sounds like fun but it’s not as if I will be doing this a lot…or ever again.

It's only temporary and I have all faith that [eventually] I'll get over it - I'm practicing now with a racing simulator on my computer and once I've got the repetition down enough, I should have little to no surprises waiting for me when I come out and do Sebring in real life (y)
