The first GR Yaris reviews are now out in Japan. A 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 268 hp and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm). This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission and four-wheel drive. It can also be optioned out with two available Torsen limited-slip differentials through the Circuit Pack. What would you guys think if this was the powertrain in the GR 86?

It sounds really good, wow! Excited to see what the people behind this do with the 86

That is one angry sounding 3-cylinder. I love it! I'd be fine if they put this exact engine in the 86, or at the very least give the current 4 cylinder engine this kind of treatment.

If the 86 is the only car without a turbo I'll lose it haha.
I’m hoping they do the smart thing and offer different options. Offer the base model non turbo, offer a premium non-turbo, then offer the the premium turbo. You know something along those lines would be a safe strategy and they would sell a lot I think as long as pricing wasn’t a ton. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. With the “spy shots” that were found this morning, I think it’s our GR86. I think we are edging nearer and nearer to some type of information from Toyota and Subaru, or at least hopefully lol.

I think so too, now that those spy photos came out I think more info will be coming soon.
