I hate to say this, but the Twins are priced too low for our own good. While it may be a so called "entry level sports car" it is most definitely not an "entry level car" for beginning drivers, and immature, inexperienced drivers, regardless of their chronological age.
There is a small bit of truth here. How many broccoli tard kids you see driving a GRC, FL5, or even an A90? Hell even a VB WRX?

Tbf, I’ve found some good info on Reddit that isnt on these forums.

In fact the forums just arnt what they used to be like they were back in early 2000s, there’s less contributors, so less traffic, less knowledge.

I think since there’s just vast knowledge on reddit you’re going to get a ton of different varying results. Just need to have common sense to sift out what’s right.

The bigger problem with the forums dying off is you have a lot of people just asking for answers via social media instead of searching and then in most caaes search is completely broken so you keep getting people asking the same questions and there's no archive to look back to for info. This also creates a lot of miss information too.

Well back in the day forums has stickies and tutorials. That's essentially missing nowadays with YouTube and all.

lets go a step further and include v8 camaros & mustangs, corvettes..with turbos, blowers etc.

im old, but still find time to get out and goof around with buddies, making pulls etc. there is absolutely no shortage of these kids with 800+ whp cars that start at $65k, with another $10k plus in mods.

the finance world is out of control.

edit: im certainly not out in my stock brz doing this, its my daily 🤣

This is like during Covid when people were trying to give out medical advice saying "I work in a hospital!" and I'm like.... dude you work in the kitchen lol

In all seriousness, Reddit is a joke. The things I've seen people say regarding all sorts of different topics is wild, and people act like their tenure in the forum/group means they're a subject matter expert.

On the plus side, it provides some great entertainment.

As a big Reddit user, I've found r/GR86 is pretty bad but I do try to help people who ask a specific question I have experience with. With that said, every car also has good and "bad" owners/forum members/subreddits etc.

Due to the entry point, these cars are naturally going to attract younger buyers who maybe don't have their finances sorted out (something that kills me to read on r/GR86), make questionable modifications, or in general, aren't as knowledgeable as maybe we would like. We need to think long term - we've all made stupid car related decisions, but eventually some of these kids are going to be us one day and will be a source of knowledge. We can laugh at their inexperience now, but none of us should let this detract from the experience of these great cars. At the track, the community surrounding our cars is easily one of the most knowledgeable and friendly due to that low entry point.

There isn't greener grass with other cars. Try having a conversation with someone who has a superiority complex because they have an air-cooled 911 which is the "how god intended it", or they have a 997.2 the last "pure" 911, or how the "correct" way to spec a Carrera T is. That stuff is infuriating.

Lubricated parts can be too slippery? Engine internals slipping?? She must be marrying the guy at the dealer who goes around pressure washing the inventory. Wow.
I really wish we could keep broccoli heads from crashing these too. I'd love a second Twin but insurance rates are horrible from these dip fucks crashing all the time 🤦‍♂️

They're here on this forum as well. Would NEVER buy this car used all because of what the broccoli tards do to these cars. Some you can't tell.
Yeah I'm with you... that's why I bought both of mine new with <10 miles on the clock. I don't trust these kids with these fragile cars!

I never understood that mentality...i saw that a lot in science subs where people would give some info and cite themselves as the source because they are a phd student..equivalent to trust me bro

but yea the site is by and large just awful for most things. only a few niche subs are decent

I wonder what the crash rates are for other entry sports cars like the turbo 4 camaros and mustangs. my theory is that it feels like the twins egg you on to drive it faster and faster around turns because that's where the thrills are. immature kids end up pushing things too far and wrecking them.

Certain Porsche groups being pretentious dont surprise me. ive heard ferrarichat is awful too. Somehow I think that is more tolerable than seeing kids wreck perfectly good cars, especially limited edition ones

At least the bad advice posts on that thread were correctly downvoted. I wouldn't mind an up or downvoting system here.
yes and no. the voting system is a major driver in reddit being an echo chamber. some subs do it correctly and hide the points for a few hours after a comment is made so voters arent biased by previous votes

Majority of the broccoli tards in that sub care about looks and being Insta cool. It was never like this before twenty years ago. Friend of mine attributed it to the loss of print media like SSC and the extreme rise of social media. Most of the twins I've seen in my area reflects that. Slammed, loud exhaust stanced and huge wing for no apparent reason. A good tell tale sign it's all about looks? Every single one of them still have stock brakes unless it's a PP/special edition.

I was on there yesterday after being away from that goofy ahh sub for a few months. Every other post is someone crashing their car or asking some goofy ahh question like it’s their first time ever using a car. No wonder why I was quoted $717 a month for my insurance. When it comes time to renew/shop around, if crazy numbers are being pulled this thing is being traded.

Edit: Also apparently the BRZ is one of the most ticketed cars in America.
