If Subaru comes out with another tS model then the GR86 will be traded in towards that. Or if Toyota does a TRD or some kind of performance model.

Then I will keep that one for ever.

Not trying to derail the topic but I'm gonna say this right now as a Florida resident.
RTV is like COVID-19; if you just flat-out ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist, it will never be a problem for you 🤝
I mean the rona made me sick as hell for a month, but I don’t think the RTV will have even that impact on our cars😂

honestly, I will drop the pan when I install headers. Only because it’s easy and it’s right there yknow? But it’s mostly to satisfy my curiosity more than anything else

The Alpine A110 went for sale in the US and is 50 state legal.
This. I would settle for 49-state legal. A mid-engine turbo straight four and a 260ms shift DCT auto would grab me.

Right now demand still outstrips supply even with the used market cooling a bit.
Absolutely agree with this, which is why I’m in no rush to jump platforms.

The car is fantastic, I’ll continue having fun with it while the other cars I lust after continue to drop in price. I know I can still get what I paid for my GR out of it, given I don’t DD it.

A gen 3 sticking to the same formula, NA lightweight rwd coupe, would probably be enough to sway me. A bit more power, say 260 hp, and same weight at 2800 lbs. Or keep the power at the current 245ish hp and drop weight to 2600 lbs. Either works for me haha.

Same for any other manufacturer, I’m pretty indifferent to which brand makes it frankly.

Depending who you ask, this is a gen 3 haha.

We can all wish, but the next generation of this car will be some low low low displacement hybrid if it isn’t discontinued.

Most of the common reasons have already been given, but I would add that some people who bought his car and soon sold it may have been buying a hyped car. Later they realize that it's a sports car and you really need something more practical. Also some people needing a new car, could have been offered this car as no other new car was available at the time they purchased it. When prices of pre owned cars where going up, a seller could get a good offer if traded so they took the offer and traded for the more practical car. Having owned sports cars as a second car, I usually sell because a new car has captured my interest.

I sold my GR86 because I wanted an ND2 Miata. At the time of buying the GR86, I was debating between the GR86 and ND2 Miata. I have ridden in a Miata and I loved it, but there were very few GR86/BRZs on the road so I could only go off of people's rave reviews of the new twins regarding its driving experience. Since I only would have one car, the GR86 seemed like a perfect compromise. After buying the GR86, I realized that I was still wanting a Miata. Almost a year after owning the GR86, I sold it and purchased a ND2 Miata. ND2 Miata felt more me in that car than the GR86 did despite how good the GR86 is.

Yeah all the rumors of a 1.6L turbo hybrid replacement make me sad. Just means I’ll be holding onto this BRZ2 for a long long time haha. Nothing else like it in the market currently.

Don’t buy into those bullshit articles, With these cars you’ll quickly learn that if it isn’t from Toyota / Subaru themselves it’s most likely fake news. But just with the way the worlds going…

I sold mine in October, during the height of RTV hysteria, but mostly because I just don't like daily driving manuals anymore.

I'll definitely consider getting another if I go to a 2-car solution, but there's a high chance I'd take another Miata instead in that situation.

My original plan was to buy it, drive every bucket list road then put it for sale. I have a 30 day road trip planned at about 9000 miles. I fully expect to put it for sale after I get home.

I've wanted a brz since it came out. It never fit my life. I sold a bunch of cars and it still doesn't. However, a rwd 6mt coupe that I can actually fit in is hard to find.

Maybe I'll keep it. They are hard to find and still holding their value, sort of

"Reasons why you would sell your BRZ / GR86"

I made the mistake of test driving an FL5 Civic Type R. It's too big and ugly in comparison but dear God, the level of polishing is incredible. It's like a jewel next to an agricultural implement.
