Firstly.. thank you to everyone who helped answer questions on my welcome thread and the thread I had trying to find a car to test drive, I was successful in doing so and am ready to move ahead.
I have communicated with both a local Subaru and Toyota dealer, and am waiting to hear back for out the door pricing on each of the following:
23 BRZ limited MT WR Blue
23 GR86 premium MT Neptune Blue
Originally I was leaning towards the BRZ, but the research process has made me equally interested in the 86, going to see what both dealers come back with regarding time and price and go from there.
That said, I have questions on the 86 side. I have read a lot on this forum about the allocation system, it was one of the biggest factors pushing me in the direction of the BRZ as I am not okay with the "pot luck" nature of toyota's system. I have an exact car in mind and expect nothing other then that car delivered. The salesman told me that they just sold their allocations and were not sure when they would get another. But he said he could "factory order" one. Doing so was the for the exact car color, trim, obviously but included no port or deal installed options (except for the ones I specified).
Does this sound right? I did not see many talking about this option, and unless I missed it I would imagine it would be preferable to the allocation. I don't know how much faster the allocation process is, I was told a factory order would be 2-4 months.
Anyone done this route? was a good / bad experience? Does the amount of time seem in-line reasonable?
