Now that is an interesting perspective lol. I think they sound pretty decent, albeit nothing amazing, but that's due to a good combo of intake and exhaust on my car. I also feel those sounds/noises to be a good thing regardless of commuting or having fun pounding corners.

That’s a simple one, most of the people that purchase said cars aren’t enthusiasts. They’re just filthy rich.
Also, the manual versions of those cars command FAR more money on the used market, further proving their desirability.

If you want an AT buy an AT. If you want a manual buy a manual. Everybody here is an adult so why care what somebody else thinks of your car? All that matters is that you are happy with it.

Personally I don't see the appeal of an AT sports car. But I only drive my car for fun and since speed limits around here are fairly low the extra speed of an AT doesn't really matter to me. Instead I'd rather have "more to do".

But I can appreciate other people have different needs.

Truth is spoken here. Early Corvettes were known for their poor aerodynamics, particularly getting very light in the front at speed. The '63 to '67 models (C2) in particular were HORRIBLE in the aero department. Remember, the early cars were styled, not engineered. The Corvette started to become the true sports car it was meant to be with the C4, and finally made the breakthrough to a true thoroughbred with the C5. Before this they were just fancy looking hot rods with IRS.

I lived it IRL as the grandkids say so I know it's true. You are very knowledgeable about cars and some people try hard to sound smart. I have owned so many cars and I appreciate you speaking up.

I don't really see a lot of hatred. I just think people have preferences. Since this car isn't super fast, I personally think an automatic would be boring and unengaging, but I'm not hating on people with disabilities or those who just want an easy commuter car. I just wouldn't buy this car if those things applied to me.

I would describe someone wishing significant pain and suffering as well as disability on someone to “teach them a lesson” as quite petty. But maybe I’m just a snowflake or something 🤷

My GR86 was manual, and I've bought 6 new (and 3 used) enthusiast cars to "save the manuals" over the years, but the charms of clutching have worn off for me. It's fun when there's no traffic, but there's always traffic where I live. Even on track, I find it more enjoyable to flick a paddle and left foot trail brake than to heel-toe, especially after getting into simracing.

I just wish these 2nd gen cars were available with a more engaging automagic, something like the ZF8HP or a DCT.

Oh right, the Supra exists.

As a person that has been driving MTs for 39 years I can say without a doubt that the ability to operate a MT is nothing to brag about, I mastered the skill in about an hour when I was 16

The skill is just differnet, it doesn't require special knowledge, nor does your abilty to drive a MT make you a better driver
