Looking for my first sports car

Hi everyone, before everything went sideways with COVID-19 I was starting to look for my first 2-door sports car. I started reading about the new GR86 and it's slowly becoming the front runner. I have friends that are huge Toyota fans and they've been losing their minds over this. I look forward to learning more about the car with everyone here.

Welcome to the site. I'm here because I think the GR86 is going to be a car worth waiting for when all of this is over!

Thank you very much @jkim85! It sure seems like it'll be worth it. Besides, I'm not in a rush to head to at dealer at the moment...
Welcome to the forum @R-Ozzy! What other cars were you looking at?
Welcome. same here, first manual car purchase for me, GR86 will be fantastic.

Welcome @DoD

Did you look at other manual transmission vehicles before deciding to go with the GR86?

yup, I need 2+2 as minimum this crosses out ND2 and Z400/370..
big fan of FK8 (but its front wheel, not a drift machine - which I want to learn proper driving skills to drift)

Could possibly fetch to the higher end of spectrum, like M2 CS and GT350... GT350 from what I heard is not that tail happy (more for track purpose, hard to drift)
M2 is amazing, and all the good reviews and even being commented it as true successor of MR4 supra, current gen M2 is near the end of life-cycle, BMW is notorious about leaking oils, I have a N55 F15 SUV as daily, so I would go with N.A. GR86 at the end (its budget friendly as well).

What a car to get as your first manual! Have you been practising driving stick with any other cars?

when i first learned how to drive, my dad has a manual jetta, i used to practice with it, but never owned a manual myself... that's like 10+ years ago... since then I never drove one :) i will probably go and test drive some manual cars here and there, not sure if its easy to get a manual demo cars to test drive...

That's cool that you got to learn on your dad's Jetta. What year Jetta did he have?
