Key Fob Window Control

Hey all, first post here. I have a Canadian 23 GR86 Premium in manual and my dealer tried to see if they can activate the remote window up/down feature with the key fob on my car today. Sad to say we were unsuccessful even with the picture of Techstream that was shared on another forum - GR-ZOO (attached below). This menu path according to my dealer was not present for the Canadian Spec GR86. They acknowledged that our owner's manual also lists that this feature can be enabled by the dealer but the technician searching through the menu could not find it despite trying for an hour.

Has anyone in NA been successful enabling this feature?

Below video is what I mean by Key Fob Window Control for those who are not sure what it does.

Sorry not much insight into this. Heres a link to the thread you mentioned: https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/open-close-windows-using-the-key.2870/

One person said the ADM cars dont support this. The car in the video is right hand drive so JDM or EDM most likely? I looked through the USDM manual and it doesnt mention anything about windows in the customization settings.

Someone else explained this is done by holding the unlock and lock button on the fob to open and close the windows (once the dealer activates it). I tested mine (USDM) for the heck of it, didn't work as I expected.

I don’t see this feature in the US owners manual? Would be cool to have it! Anyone else know?
Have a JDM car, and had the dealer enable this option. Yep, you press and hold the unlock or lock button to open or close the windows respectively. Gotta say it's pretty handy for those times I get out of the car and forget to close the windows the whole way. Saves going all the way back in to the car.

Don't understand how this isn't a feature on every car. My 2004 VW did this.

It's frustrating when the manufacturers won't give you common features that require nothing but a few lines of code. It's irritating for example that the doors don't auto lock when you drive off. That's def just some code. It's even more irritating that they don't unlock when you pull the interior door handle -- though also more understandable if that would require a sensor in the door handle. Maybe it's just a dumb mechanical handle, in which case it kind of fits with the ethos of this car. But the lack of auto lock? Or window control from the fob? That's just being cheap ass!

It's still a great car (well, oil consumption lol) but c'mon!

I could've sworn that both my dealer and I saw it as being a feature on the owner's manual but I can't find it anymore. Maybe our hopes overlooked it. :(

I got mine to do it, but I had to play this video on my carlinkit and do the dance... but praise the lord it worked.

I couldn't come up with a scenario that I'd use it. When would you use it?

I've had it on prior cars and used it often to cool off the interior before getting in. If my car was never exposed to summer sun I think it would lose most of its value for me. But even then I'd prob use it once in awhile to, say, put a window back up if I'd forgotten after parking. Or to reach into the car to grab something. In some situations that would be more convenient than opening the door. But main thing for me is when the car has been baking in the sun.

Sure, remote start with AC would work better, but it's a MT so that's not an option. Nor was it on my last car with this feature, also a MT.

I lived in FL and it made a huge difference rolling the windows down walking out to the car. But in cooler areas I don't really think you'd use it much (like here in OR).

But as said, remote start/climate basically gets rid of the need anyway.

Remote Start user. Would rather have that than opening and closing windows.

MT cars don’t have a remote start option.

Today was another instance in which the key fob feature would have been helpful. Was driving with windows down, parked, turned off the engine and took some time listening to the radio with the windows down, nice weather, before going into a store. When I was ready and went to put up the windows they had timed out. So now I had to hit the start button twice, raise the windows, then hit the start button again to turn off the electric. Then got out. Then locked the door.

With the keyfob feature I could have just gotten out and raised the windows that way from the outside, and all while locking the door simultaneously.

I could have held down one key fob button to raise the windows and lock the car. Instead I had to press the Start button twice, pull up both power window buttons, press the Start button a third time, then press the lock button on the key fob (or lock from the door handle). As the saying goes, First World problems. But y’all gotta admit that’s a big difference.

I’ve realized I used this feature a lot when I had it on another car.
Does the JDM manual mention this feature?
Yep it does. It has a little matrix chart of features that are user enabled or service-person enabled. Remote window control was definitely a service-person one.

I enabled this feature on my Euro-spec car through Techstream.
It was under Body Control -> Utility.

Thanks, I take that as a good indication that the USDM models didnt get this feature. Bummer
