I just ordered the K&N intake system off of Amazon 😅. It’ll be at my house on Thursday. I’ve already removed the charcoal filter and installed a K&N drop in filter but still would enjoy the added induction noise. The GF doesn’t have to really know….😅.

So far my mods are: 06-07 WRX front calipers, Hawk HPS front pads, Tomei Oil Pan Baffle Plate, FTSpeed UEL catted header, SR*S front pipe and over pipe, and Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust. It sounds good as is but I want to throw more on until a supercharger kit comes on the market. F the warranty.
Any update on the K&N intake?

I have the K&N on my car. I’m sure it does add the ~5-7 horsepower (similar to what you’d get from removing the snow screen for free) but I can tell you the primary advantage is noise. It’s not a small change, think 90s Honda induction noise. I could see some purchasers being annoyed with the noise level but for me it’s exactly what I wanted.

Any chance you got a clip??

I'm missing the intake noise of my old K20A3 civic... These Subaru engines are pathetic sounding, was hoping a bit of intake noise would make it sound less sad 🤣

I wanted the same or similar wookie roar, but this engine has a smoother induction noise and it's just not on that level of loud lol. But it's still a huge improvement over stock and obviously far more apparent.

This is pretty much it, despite the video being a 1st gen:

Came to confirm what everyone else is saying, I just installed mine.

Pros: 90s Honda induction noises
Cons: Maybe you lose 5hp, maybe you gain 8hp.

If you want induction noise, and do not want a loud exhaust. This is the answer you're looking for.

Good news is that it does actually make more power than the stock intake, at least with the charcoal filter (likely makes the same power as the stock intake in other regions). But either way, the most important part is that it does not lose power from heat soak on back to back runs :)

Stratified auto tested it:

It does yes.

It can be further improved like many things however. Sealing up the corners of the box, making the gasket fit more snug around the piping, and adding a bit more heat reflective tape specifically. But as said, it already matches the stock intake with the emissions filter removed so going above and beyond isn't gonna yield much more anyways.

I had installed a Jackson Racing air-air oil cooler that uses the same thermostatic sandwich plate. It barely fits. I’ll post a picture when I get back in town. I’ll need to keep a small funnel in the car for oil top ups and filling during oil changes/maintenance because the fill hole is partially blocked by the oil cooler lines.

Came back to confirm that sweet sweet induction sound 😁

It's essentially what the stock fake sound tries to emulate, but just much much much better.
😂 it’s a very nice and deep throaty(😅) induction sound. Pricey but well worth it! Sorry, I have no videos. I need to take a cruise tomorrow with my video glasses that I used to use in competitive shooting events to hopefully get good audio of my whole set up.
