If helps at all, the intake only sounds loud when you plant your foot - and even then it's only really noticeable once you get above about 3200RPM. If you're just cruising with no hard acceleration, it honestly doesn't sound any different than stock.
Could you post more sound clips? This looks sweet, but would love to get a sense for how it sounds under load or cruising at different rpms from the cabin

Great post. Thanks for the info!
I used to love how my 98 ITR sounded with a cold air intake. I had a quiet exhaust and the sound of the intake was deep aggressive at top end!

Im willing to spend some money just to get the "noise" lol.
I plan on getting a quiet or stock looking exhaust.

The sound of VTEC crossover of B series engine with an intake..........top tier induction noises. With old hondas....intake sounds > exhaust sounds

I love the K&N intake having the MAF placed far down stream from the (maybe) turbulent area after the filter element. I see many other aftermarket options having them say merely 2in from the filter element. Does that make a diff? Will that cause some drivability issues (which some intakes for the 1st gen have, although to be fair i havent heard any issues with this gen) I dunno. But the anal engineer in me wonders...

HKS just joined the fray....https://youtu.be/V-p0T9QFPKs 8min in

I think it's a valid concern. The K&N spacing does seem ideal, and they also installed a velocity stack that functions as a heatsink inside the pipe where the MAF is located. But they have been doing this forever and they have a large team of engineers working on this stuff too so not surprising imo.

I too am interested in the HKS option though.

Agreed. I've bought numerous K&N air intakes over the years and never had issues with any of them. They may not be the most glamorous, but they always get the job done for a reasonable price IMHO.

Its "kinda" data. They still never tested the OEM box with charcoal removed. Im still willing to bet that alone would make the same gains seen here for free. Although the intake noise is pretty great and worth the cost for many.

Just replacing the stock filter with the HKS one, I did notice a slight difference in acceleration. Or it might be a placebo effect, lol.

Still have not gotten to removing the charcoal filter. But, I do believe that this will definitely help the car breath more easily.

I just ordered the K&N intake system off of Amazon 😅. It’ll be at my house on Thursday. I’ve already removed the charcoal filter and installed a K&N drop in filter but still would enjoy the added induction noise. The GF doesn’t have to really know….😅.

So far my mods are: 06-07 WRX front calipers, Hawk HPS front pads, Tomei Oil Pan Baffle Plate, FTSpeed UEL catted header, SR*S front pipe and over pipe, and Borla S-Type cat-back exhaust. It sounds good as is but I want to throw more on until a supercharger kit comes on the market. F the warranty.

I also like a good intake/induction sound!

Thats a good set of mods so far. I am also waiting on a supercharger kit.
Good luck!
