I was planning on getting a Toyota 86 when it was launched back in 2012. Also considered a Subaru BRZ mainly because of the World Rally Blue color option. Unfortunately, due to medical condition, plan didn’t push through. This time around, hoping to be able to get a 2nd-generation 86. I believe it will be the last kind of its breed. I’ve driven both cars and they’re fun to be driven. If not only for the existence of the manual transmission in the 86, I’d definitely consider hybrid/electric cars as well.

Welcome @ae86ron.
Whats the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ scene like where you live currently?
Thanks! The fan base is good. Actually the local 86/BRZ community is only a small percentage of overall car sales in the country. The active members would normally go to the track or to try tackle twisty roads, usually on weekends. They also mod their cars. Some adopted aftermarket turbo though most just modified suspension setups, and cosmetics. More of a weekend car since local roads aren’t that good.

Welcome to the forum @ae86ron! Will you consider the BRZ this time around or are you sticking with the 86?
Thanks! Hard to answer that for now. Have to see the actual products first and test drive. A lot of exciting new cars are hitting the road. Don’t know yet exactly which one to choose. It’s more of an EV or an 86/BRZ for me for now.
