Hey guys,
This is a mini review of the knee pads that are made and sold by Ben from EightyZips!
'22+ GR86/BRZ Alcantara® Console Knee Pad
I opted for the most OEM+ combo - Black Alcantara with Red Stitching
It's a fairly simple process to install
Tools Required:
Drill
5/16" Drill Bit*
Silver Sharpie
Elbow Grease
Knee pad for the floor if you're not young anymore
Courage to drill into your brand new car
Optional: Any tiny Drill Bit to make pilot holes*
*Use quality drill bits. See Step 4.
So onto the install.
he makes it EXTREMELY simple. he gives you templates with double sided tape.
Stick on, mark the holes, remove, drill pilot hole, drill main hole with 5/16 bit, shove knee pad into place as hard as you can
Step 1: Look at your fancy knee pad and check for defects

Step 2: Remove white shipping foam. You dont need this foam anymore. Feel free to toss it, play with it, use it as pads for something else etc.

Step 3: Tape on the drill template and mark holes with your Sharpie

Step 4: Start drilling pilot holes with your tiny drill bit. Be sure to use a quality drill bit. This bit was from a set that came from the $5 clearance bin at Home Depot and was advertised to drill through metal and plastic. It failed to drill into some extremely soft and pliable plastic lol. After the pilot holes, drill your main holes where you made your marks. I continued to drill the rest without pilot holes, as I had enough confidence to do so.

Step 5: Get your Knee Pad, line up the holes, and put medium to heavy pressure on each stud. Go around a few times and really push them in.

Step 6: Enjoy your Knee Pad

Repeat all these steps for the Passenger Side if you opted for the Passenger Side option
Now for the review. After a quick drive, you feel just the slightest bit of extra support around your knee area. I know it will come in handle on track and in the canyons when pushing the car a little bit harder. I have to post a long term review after a few months of driving.
The fitment is 9/10. Finish is 10/10. Feel and padding is 10/10.
Please note: This install was the "quick and dirty" way to do this.
The proper way to install this is to remove the panel itself and clean the rear side of the holes so the push pins can go all the way in. I didn't want to disassembly my interior for that. The fitment is more than well enough for me.
If you decide to do the install the "proper" way, then fitment will 100% be 10/10.

Lmk if you have any questions about anything.
