I buy all my stuff like this from Subaru. Easier and cheaper. Oil filters also.
Awesome, thanks guys!Cars a Subaru so it'll work fine. I prefer to go to my local Subaru dealer for that reason too when I need parts, plus the drive is more fun than to Toyota.
Obligatory not a mechanic and this is not legal advice but you could get away with doing it that way since these cars are so light as long as your jack stands are decent. The safest bet for just peace of mind would be to get four jack stands but in a pinch it'll work totally fine. I use two Pittsburgh Automotive ramps, got them from harbor freight and they're rated for 2000 lbs per ramp, and advertised as being able to hold up 8000lbs. I wouldn't wanna test that out but for the ~2800lbs our cars weight I'm confident in it. As for part 2 of your question I'm not sure since I haven't done the trans and diff but I'd imagine it would be ok doing it one side at a time as long as you're putting in the correct amount.Awesome, thanks guys!
One last question - I have a jack stand and two jacks, was planning on jacking up the front first to do the engine oil and trans, then jack up the back to do the diff. Will this work, or do I need to get four jack stands, and do the front and back at the same time, to have the car level when I fill the diff and trans?
also remember, when filling up trans and lsd, vehicle needs to be flat, can't be tilted unlike filling up engine oil. so might be tricky there for LSD if your vehicle is lowered, gravity feed will be a challenge unless you got a pump. trans you can put a tube from the engine bay down and just pour it in till it overflows. I would'nt risk holding the car up with the jack itself. shit happens.Obligatory not a mechanic and this is not legal advice but you could get away with doing it that way since these cars are so light as long as your jack stands are decent.
