Welcome to my build thread!
I will be using this thread to document the evolution if my 2022 BRZ as long as I have it. I will say it started off as a mild track build and has ended up being a bit more of a daily driver thanks to the addition of a 2004 Mazda Miata to my household that serves as a track rat. This enabled me to do more of a visually appealing & fun to drive car vs something more track oriented which would sacrifice comfortability for performance.
Background:
I bought my BRZ with the intent to use it as a platform to "learn" RWD on. I have been doing HPDE track days, the occasional autox event, and as much twisty road driving as possible in my previous cars which have all been FWD. For me these desires are rooted deep in the past and probably came about while watching Initial D / Hot Version / Keiichi Tsuchiya / Max Orido etc etc. I had originally intended to start this journey way back in 2015 by purchasing an Ultramarine FR-S, it turned out to be an automatic and I bought a different (manual) car.
When I saw that the second generation was coming out I knew I had to at least test drive one. I test drove a 2018 BRZ, 2022 BRZ and a 2021 Miata RF on the same day and knew that although the Miata was the better "sports" car the new BRZ was the best compromise between function and form. I do not plan on going buck-wild with this car, since I am new to the platform and to RWD but I am taking it to its first autox next week and can't wait to see where things go from there.
Lets also address the elephant in the room. Why did I buy a BRZ instead of a GR86 just to swap the bumper (and slowly swap the interior / trim) to the Toyota variants?
Of course there are small things that I wish I had like the GR logo start up, and the GR86 track mode display.
All that said this is my 2022 WRB BRZ!

- I wanted blue, Neptune was nearly impossible to find when I was buying and I wasn't super happy with Trueno / Sapphire Blue
- I prefer the slight differences in driving the BRZ vs the GR86
- I wanted the red stitched interior / red accents
- I wouldn't have to wait as long to get the car in the exact spec that I wanted
Of course there are small things that I wish I had like the GR logo start up, and the GR86 track mode display.
