That is rough I’m sorry When you say blew up did it run out of oil and lock up? Over rev? Or not quite sure? Keep us posted, very interested to know root cause once it makes it to the shop.
Honestly not quite sure was on the freeway down shifted from 6th to 5th to 4th back up to 5th to 6th when I got back into 6ths I felt like a rumble in the accelerator pedal then I heard the knocking come on

IDK how that could possibly come to be, I've never heard of something like this in 30 years of driving.

No but if the gear change that was supposed to be 4th gear ended up in 2nd gear instead that can be an instant 9000rpm rev. The rev limiter cant do anything if you put it in a wrong gear. I dont like to assume, because shit happens. New cars break for no reason sometimes. At the same time, if there was an assembly issue, it would have shown up well before 5k miles, so who knows.

Oh yeah I didn't consider a money shift because he said that he shifted normally, but who knows what could have happened :/

That really sucks. Are you willing to share any other details? Things such as - how do you know it blew up? Is there visible damage to the engine and/or leaking oil/coolant? When was the last oil change and what type/brand of oil was used, and what gas octane and station(s) have you used to fill up? Have you driven it on track and/or experienced limp mode? Did you lug it when you shifted into 6th? It's great to have documentation incase the issue isn't isolated.

If that was the case or any of the cases above people are saying were mis-shifts, then the trans would've blown. A clear symptom of engine failure is white smoke and immediate loss of power. More obvious signs are a literal hole in the block, oil sprayed across the bay, scattered metal remnants, and/or a fire (ask me how I know lol). If its related to shifting, sounds like OP blew up his trans

The engine does not have to explode and send parts flying to be blown. A money shift also does not typically blow the trans, it will take the engine out 1st most of the time. Best case the clutch just lets loose and everything else survives. Cams, valves, springs and timing related parts are designed to only spin so fast. Its not uncommon to spin a bearing or break\bend a valve or spring from over revving. Maybe that wouldnt be classified as a "blown" engine, but it certainly will sound and run like crap and require major repair.

I hesitate with these threads... it's like the other one where the guy blew his clutch after only 800 Miles; made it sound like a potential issue with the vehicle. Then later in the thread he admits he was thrashing it around quite a bit.

Seems like there's always some important details that are being left out in these anecdotes.
