There doesn't need to be a sensor hole inside the rear bumper plate, they are radar units attached directly to the car chassis. Below is the picture from Subaru Forester:
It measures distance so I wonder why they can't use the same sensor as parking sensors then. I guess parking sensors have holes for a reason so maybe the hidden ones aren't as accurate.

I'm no specialist on the sensor technology, but I suppose the RCTA sensors are much more powerful, but less precise and very bulky units in comparison to the tiny parking sensors in the bumper.

I would really like to install the parking sensors after the purchase, hope there will be a simple OEM option.

Parking sensors are super sonic, they emit a sound and record the echo. Sound needs a medium (air) to travel
Good for small distances, but bad for long distances, because the waves fade out

RADAR emits radiation (thats "RA" in RADAR) and similarly catches the echoes, which is good for longer ranges. You don't need a medium. Also the radiation goes througth the bumpers plastic (would not work on metal bumpers, because of the faraday guy ;) )
As far as i know, radar has a lower refresh rate and may be not as precise in small distances. The two sensors may overlapp and influence each other (i guess), while the super sonic sensors only have a small range and don't overlapp.

I will call my reseller tomorrow.
My guess is that either they will ask me to change the color (DAR blue is not available anymore here in France), or they will tell me that they will not be able to produce my car ever.
I personally prefer option 1 :)

Did anyone contact their retailer?

I contacted mine yesterday, no changes.
The car is still blocked, without a reason.
The date is still 14.10. That was my last info in the hidden data.

So no change.
I think, Toyota just changed some software, without proper testing...

What is he trying to tell us… what does it all mean…
Nothing :D I was just replying regarding what a radar is but I saw that everything was already explained, but I can't delete my post.

I feel for you cro-bros :( Dealer's feedback in Ljubljana was that It will be VERY limited with no further explanation (what colours and trim level will be available or even when the orders open)...

The (shit)show must go on.
