There you can pre order it in Germany.
Delivery would be in April. Price is 31.199€, not sure if this is for the Base or Premium. According to the description, it is with heated seats and leather, which would speak for premium.
yeah, but that has nothing to do with true price, they say:
Das Inserat dient nur zum Zwecke der Vorbestellung, nicht zur Identifizierung des Fahrzeugs.
der Verkaufspreis ist der zum Zeitpunkt gültige Listenpreis.

so in other words, they say price will be whatever is valid at point of sale...

thanks for sharing guys, appreciate the news.
me waiting patiently for ordering to start as well.
honestly, not getting too anxious about availability myself. even after official sale will stop, you will be able to import almost anything as a used car either from US for most of us or from Japan for UK guys. and that includes limited editions that Europe might never get... so there will be always options. yeah, will cost us, but still better than some 15+ year old two door panamera...

what I am really keen to find out is the amount of active safety kit. lane keeping assist, active cruise control, crash mitigation, bla-bla-bla... do not want any of that crap personally. have some experience with GR Yaris, and was less than impressed by how annoying and dangerous these nannies are.
anyone knows what GR86 will come with? I think Europe has some strict regulations about this, but did not follow lately what is mandatory and what not...

good luck to everyone waiting.

Just a thought - do we need to worry about the speed limiter for the GR86, to be able to do this the car needs to be able track its location, read speed limit signs and either provide a warning sounds and /or amend the speed of the car automatically, as far as I am aware the GR86 has none of this and one of the reason its only got a 2 year EU shelf life is it cant meet the forthcoming mandatory 'safety' regs?
my understanding and interpretation is no, we do not need to worry about this. on the other hand, just as you are writting this is exactly one of the key reasons why this car can not be registered in EU as a new car after certain point in time.

I am just guessing HKS speed limit defeat is just usuall 180km/h max speed defeat for JDM market, which they have in cars (built in speed limit) for decades already.

Yes you can buy it in France and you just pay the belgian VAT.
most likely not quite right. if you try to import brand new car, you need to pay CO2 penalty as well. and because I assume you will not import 100 hybrid corollas along with one sporty coupe to get the necessary offset, it would really heart. that is if you go for new car...
btw if done properly you get VAT back at export and pay it again in import country. but this is quite off topic here.

Is the CO2 penalty a national tax? If the car is imported into Belgium, the French tax would not apply, I suppose. The car would be registered for the first time in Belgium with its own much lower CO2 emission taxes. Any information on a possible CO2 tax exemption in case of intra community imports? Many thanks
yes sir. well I would not use your words, but most taxes are deducted where the source of economic centre of the activity belongs.
if you think about it, cars imported from Japan come via ship via some port. so it would not be fair if all taxes were deducted at entry of EU. it is more fair / reasonable, if taxes are deducted in countries where new cars actually end up been used.
in EU definition of a new car is less than 6 months and less than 6000km from first registration. so if you think about importing new / nearly new car, just be carefull and do your homework, so that charges and duties will not surprise you.
my last info when I checked this, was that importing any non electric or non hybrid new car is financial no go if you do it on your own. I think the solution was to let some importer do it for you (and pay them...), specifically due to CO2 penalty, because importers can offset CO2 penalties, as it is charged on the fleet as whole in particular tax year.

Why not the GR yaris? It's the same price and more fun
I have tested one as well. On snow covered alpine pass, GRY was a lot of fun. Anything else, it is very boring to me. Acceleration does not impress me, in any car, sporty car has to involve me in drama, not filter out everything... in steering you can either feel lane keeping assist or nothing - your choice. Fake sound inside, absolutely horrible for me. Shifting gears, again no feel whatsoever, but ok, my other car is an S2k, so my expectations were unrealistic I guess. All together, was not impressed at all. But that is why I know, I am after a car, that will be as close to my S2k as possible, but practical like a smallish 2+2 coupe. Let's see if Toyota can deliver one, they have got my money already...

I'm in a similar position. Also an S2000 owner. I don't think the GR86 can replace it though. It doesn't have the jewel of an engine that the S does, the sound, or the interior material quality, for that matter. But it does look like an awesome daily, so why not both? Can't wait to drive one.
totally agree. if I could make it legal here in Europe, I would go GT86 with K24 or F20c engine and S2k transmission. but that is no go where I live...

Why to do that when these engines still have a natural sound without it (cf. the video that you posted)?
because this way they can turn down accoustic development cost by a lot. almost no additional hardware, piece of code in ecu and there you go. plus as mentioned earlier, once you get used to this, there will be no difference for you between this and whatever next gen "sporty" EV they push your way 😉 sound wise...

The GR86 can be ordered in Austria as of today. The price seems to be quite expensive.

Premium MT with a paid color option costs 42.763,00 EUR while the same variant is only 37.090,00 EUR in Germany. That is a difference of 5.673 EUR! 😲
VAT in Austria is only 1% higher than in Germany, so that will not explain the huge price difference.
they have so called NOVA eco tax there... I can imagine that explains the difference

So my dealer (CZ) told me that no more gr86 for Czechia. We were told that in few months we are able to order for next year but no. So only around 180 cars for Czechia. Period
but 180 for like 11m population country, that is good message, right? honestly, I was expecting less.
my only fear is, they will not be able to match their intended numbers due to everything that is going on in the world right now. my realistic scenario at the moment is, they will have delays and they might run out of time in Europe... as a result delivering less cars than originaly intended. in fact second phase of ordering been canceled as you mention suggests this is already happening.

Cool, even more people from Switzerland.
I am from near St. Gallen.
Hey guys, here is another friendly fellow based in Zurich area, close to Greifensee to be more precise.
Count with me on a group ride or some meet.
I got actually very excited, after you posted some good news today and reached out to my dealer today to check. I have ordered with them quite early, like around 20th Feb, but I am still getting same answer - still no updates, still no idea when my car arrives... oh well...
Anyway, I am waiting for a Saphire blue pearl manual one. really curious how it is going to look like in person.
Good luck to all of us with deliveries.

one question on ECU tuning. do you know guys if there was ECU tuning solution for first gen from Europe? something that in theory could be expected for GR86 as well and would be EUDM specific... and by this I mean proper reflash of fuel maps and timing tables, not just some reseller of a solution that was developed by someone else. piggybacks like used now for GR Yaris are a no go for me.
I noticed there is a trend in US for less support in this regards for brand new cars, for example ND2 was not done properly by anyone in US market... I understand why this trend, just curious if anyone knows what could be expected in Europe, given this will not be huge volume product here.

you answered this for me. mostly rev hang, throttle response, maybe how lively it feels. I would like to get it feeling as analog as possible. this might sound weird as I did not even tried it yet, but have some expectations based on how modern cars feel... GR86 will be about driving feelings and feedback for me, not looking for outright performance at all. still remember how awesome it was back in the day with some old school na Honda with lighter flywheel, cable throttle body and no nanies whatsoever :) well, apart from ABS.

hi guys, I see some good news again, mainly from Italy and Germany, so congrats on everyone lucky. I am happy for you.
I was contacted today by my dealer as well, first time he was able to give me more specific information. If everything goes well and there are no unexpected events (hmm, what could possibly go wrong, right? :), they are expecting my car late august / early september. I do not mind waiting to be honest, it was my realistic expectation it would go like this...
But I read some frustrated people here, which is understandable...

well if anyone fancy something else, I am actually selling my pride and joy, a beautyfull red Honda S2000 in nearly new condition with only 30k km. as mentioned here already, that car is a true gem and you do not need to be a Honda fanboy to really appreciate the experience. So if I can help someone to improve your mood by suggesting a worthwhile alternative, feel free to hit me up. I would love to keep it, but probably can not justify two sporty rides...

otherwise I will keep my fingers crossed for all of us and hope everyone will get some good news sooner or later.

cheers everyone.

hey buddy, heads up, don't you worry. it can be all different for all of us in a month or two if things go south... take it easy, cars will come, it is just a matter of time and our patience.
you did all right, now it is not up to you. so relax, enjoy life and look forward to each new free day.
take it as an opportunity. buy some rusty old beater, like a lightweight civic, or even that twingo RS mentioned earlier and enjoy the hell out of it.
we are still some extra lucky bastards not having to deal with stuff that other people are going through right now ;)

As I wrote above, there are like 5 cars which went dead.
This might be true and honestly this does not concern me one bit.
What concerns me is, that I have not seen documented one single case of pro-active check of oil pick up with no silicone remaninings. Every single case documented I have seen so far contained big chunks of silicone in oil pick up. And this does concern me... yeah, warranty this and that. but who from us wants to wait 6+ months on the car, only to experience wait time for the replacement engine sometime down the road?
If you ask me this is definitely built in defect that should not be there at all.

That been said, I am not going to cancel my order, but this does not help with trust towards car, SUBARU as a manufacturer or a dealer...
