With luck, there might be some info from what the latest tune is doing to improve throttle response for ECUtek to replicate. So far only removing the clutch sensor makes any notable difference to the throttle delay.

The point of the conversation is that the throttle map is shit, and hopefully the new map is better and maybe Toyota would update the ECU for us. (I doubt it as the flash is probably tied to specific ecu builds in the factory and then the dealers are effectively locked out from doing it without voiding warranty or getting in to shit, but one can hope.)
TB is right, the throttle maps for these cars are all in line with every other 4cyl - its easy to research these, I reckon I might of even posted a few in a very early discussion thread somewhere.

You are certainly right that the things that they have done to make the throttle less responsive both initial input wise and holding revs, and its related to emissions. We (at least right now with ecutek afaik) cannot override this throttle transition effect which seems very much separate to the VE maps. The only potential workaround that has been discovered is disabling the clutch sensor.

However since the clutch sensor is needed to start the car, people have added a switch. The only downsides found so far is you lose cruise control, and lose the gear indicator.

Its well within subaru/toyota power to improve this in the new model, however my bet is that it will be very minimal, though noticeable if you drove back to back. Very interested to know tho!
