Months ago a product plan slide leaked. In it, 6 new models that included the new Toyota GR 86 with a release date set for "Summer 2021." Today the very first of those models launched on schedule via a leak and confirms that this chart is indeed official. That model is the 2021 Toyota Sienna Hybrid (more on it below).

Good to see that we have more evidence that the chart is credible. But a question remains. The chart labels the new car as "86" not "GR86". So will there be a new standard 86 and the GR 86 will be a performance version? Maybe the GR 86 is the trim with the rumored turbo motor while the base 86 is NA?

Toyota is hosting a Spring New Product Showcase online on Monday. Let's see if they provide any info on the 86.

This is ooooooold news guys.

Everything predating COVID needs to be taken with a massive grain of salt. I would not be surprised at all if the (GR)86 gets delayed a few years or straight up axed.
I agree, but its news as it confirms this is indeed an official Toyota timeline. Going forward, it can used to estimate what will actually and when with the support of info on production delays. They'll never exclusively say "the GR86 production facility" but a 3-month shutdown (for example) at a plant highly likely to produce the GR86 makes the timeline useful.

Anyone else bummed out that they didn't mention the 86?

The GR86 will come in 2022, supposedly with a turbo engine. From what I've been reading online the 2021 86 won't have a whole lot of upgrades
