OK, its FINALLY official! Sorry, this is long but I'm excited! I tried to order in February but as everyone, except me, was already aware, it was over for the 2022's so I've been waiting because well... I had no other option. A local dealership did get one in that was available but it was the wrong color so I passed on it. I ordered last month when it opened up but the dealership had hit their allotment for the month so it didn't go in until yesterday. The salesman was off so I just found out this morning. For some reason they couldn't order on the 1st, trust me, I called to check.

They wiped out all their May BRZ allotments yesterday, mine was first in line, I checked on that too ha ha. My impression is that they have an order queued up for June already so if anyone is holding off on ordering and wants this car, don't wait. I should get her in October. Woo hoo! So SO excited! I have bought new cars before but this will be my first Subaru. Can someone please teach me the secret handshake and everything or do I have to have my VIN for that?

This is kind of weird, we checked a couple other dealerships before we ordered, the others said they weren't able to order the BRZ's yet. Nothing was said about hitting their max number, they just said they weren't able to order the car yet and one got a manager involved to try. Anyone else run into that?

For the VIN, first you have to get a vehicle order number (VON) from the dealer, which will be followed by an email within two days from Subaru directly (not the dealer) with a thank you note. That means the order was truly placed. Then you have to wait until the factory in Gunmo physically starts building the car. At that point a VIN should be available but you have ask your dealer for that. I ordered my car the beginning of December last year and got a VIN the end of March. I made a profile on "mysubaru.com". There you can sort of follow along. It will post when you ordered the car and when your "Subaru is coming to life", in my case was the beginning of April.

Picked up my 2022 Silver Ice Metalic 6MT Premium on 5-4-22

My ride for the last 6 years has been a stock 2015 Ford Fiesta ST. I'm getting use to how large the BRZ feels
Especially in width. Both cars had great handling and adequate power. The BRZ's windshield wiper stalk works in the opposite way that the FiST stalk worked. The seats in the BRZ are a good amount wider. This will be fun.

Sold the FiST to the Subaru dealer for an OK price.
Had to say good night to the BRZ.

I've seen people posting about getting a ceramic coating put on but the film is a new one to me. Is it like a wrap but clear? How long does it last and does it help prevent chips and scratches or what does it do? Not trying to be a jerk, I haven't heard of this so I want to understand. Is Subaru paint really delicate, it seems several people are being proactive on paint protection.

How long does it last and does it help prevent chips and scratches or what does it do? Not trying to be a jerk, I haven't heard of this so I want to understand. Is Subaru paint really delicate, it seems several people are being proactive on paint protection.

Yeah, so my Impreza has a bad paint job, in that there are so many chips from highway driving, so we investigated this quite a bit. The PPF provides the best protection to begin with and is similar to a wrap. We are going to follow up with ceramic coating ourselves. This will give gloss and UV protection down the road.

Yes, it is like a clear wrap and yes, Subaru's paint is delicate. The PPF has a 10 year warranty. It protects from rock chips and scratches. It has this cool self-healing property. The ceramic coating, unlike its name implies, only protects against UV degradation of the paint and is hydrophobic, making the car easier to clean.

Nice! I had a first year Focus ST and then a couple of Fiesta STs (really miss the fists) Really great cars, and I got rid of my last Fist for a Camaro, Which I mistakenly traded at the end of last year to take advantage of the crazy resale value before I realized I'd never be able to get one again. Hoping my BRZ fills the void.

Kind of a fun update...so I actually live pretty close to the port in Davisville, RI, where all Subaru of New England cars come in. Today I swung by (for probably the 20th time this week...) and I found my car! It looks like it is being staged for the trucks, so hopefully it arrives at my dealer in a few days and I can finally bring it home. Been waiting long enough!

Thanks so much! I've been drooling over your pics the last couple of days, I plan on getting my BRZ PPF'd and ceramic coated right away too. Also the Ignition Red is stunning in real life, today was my first time actually seeing it in person and I am so glad I picked it!

Can you read the VIN I'm seeing a limited 6MT. Is that right? The 647 on the rear window could be last three digits.

Just out of curiosity, to everyone that has ordered a 2023, have you gotten an email from Subaru? I haven't. Maybe it doesn't come until after the factory officially changes over to the new models or maybe the salesman took my deposit and went on vacation? Hope I don't get an email with a pic of him sitting on a beach drinking a pina colada...
